Will do. I have a Bentley and vag-com on the way, and will be ordering the fluids here shortly.
Make sure to drop the pan and change the filter. Try to measure how much fluid comes out. The torque converter holds lots of fluid that won’t drain out. Dropping the pan and filter should get more fluid out then just draining fluid from the pan.
That is the plan, although if you have any ideas to drain the torque converter I’m all ears. I’ve thought about disconnecting the return line from the cooler and running the car briefly, adding fluid, running again, adding fluid, etc. until I get clean (or clean-ish) fluid out. This seems like a relatively common DIY way to flush an auto trans but I haven’t seen anyone do it on a ZF unit. Seems ‘gentler’ on the trans as it’s doing its own pumping, and fluid is travelling in the normal path.
