5-22 My latest track results

Finally had a chance to check out your videos and slips. I don’t know how to read them like saki, but trapping 114 on 104 seems a little low? Could be due to the DA, which isn’t horrible, but not great. I wonder if APR did something with the V3 tune where it sort of “requires” the DSG tune if you aren’t 6MT. Very strange if you never had this issue before.

Didn’t you go to Milan in fall of last year? So only differences are the AMS kit, lighter wheels and v3 software?

Last fall yes, went first week of september and ran in similar conditions ~72F but forgot the DA. Right on about the mods but I also did not have the test pipes or awe exhaust. I also ran on significantly heavier dunlop sp sport maxx tires with my vmr 710’s. I ran 12.3 and trapped 113… I also had a bad mix of 104 and ran with a full tank.

GIAC does strongly recommend the dsg tune with their stage 2 files so I could see why that might be necessary here with v3.0. However, I really think I need to go back out in some good DA and experiment with tires pressures. If I can avoid that hangup and stage perfectly etc, I know that alone will shave some time. Add on the dsg tune and some extra rpm might help squeeze another tenth and 1mph on my trap… I’m also going to order MS109 next time around instead of bothering with mixing fuels, I’m not so sure I’m doing it correctly… That may be another variable

Thabks for sharing

For what it is worth run the first time on friday

12.32.
111mph
1.76 60 foot
94 octane

DA around 1240

That’a a damn nice time given DA and you’re on pump, congrats! You’re stock exhaust, wheels, brakes, etc correct? Is this with or w/o LC? Did you have the spare and such in the car? How much fuel in the tank? Race gas and a better DA and you’re probably in the 11.9x range… Any vids?

No weight reduction even baby seat was in the car. Run was with launch control not sure if meshing the gas would bring in a better ET. Is trap not to low?

This friday i am trying to get into 11s on race. I will post a video later once i get it from my buddy.

Yeah, trap looks a little low but I wouldn’t sweat it… For example, Thompson where I run shows a 2-3mph difference from one side of the track to the other… Not saying that’s the issue here but something to think about… Look at mrmomo’s traps, he was 114 or lower on his passes and then ran in the other lane and went almost 116. W/O logs it’s hard to speculate, is the car dumping boost, pulling timing, high IAT’s, etc. Can you drive a different strip?

If you are really going for 11’s I’d take the baby seat out along with the spare and tools… Manage your tire pressures based on conditions and spin or lack there of and focus on the little things like shallow staging and such… Conditions will be a huge factor as well… Glad to see you’re into it and so many others are… When I first started drag racing this car many on the forums made jokes about it not being a good drag car, quite honestly for a street car there couldn’t be anything farther from the truth… Good luck! Looking forward to seeing how you do and post that vid once you get it…

prime thanks for the info, yes i will try this Friday to hit Grend Bend so different strip and see whats doable. I do believe the gas was crap again cant verify without logging. This time around i will take care of the little things as you mentioned. Again i am not here to break records i just want to make sure i get the results which GIAC claims ;). I also believe a 12.32 in DD mode is respectable and during this night a lot if people were asking questions when we parked the car to cool down. My Buddy has the 2013 S4 and was running exactly the same times and trap during the night we run. Next step is to try also the Esso 93 octane which i believe is better quality then the Petro Canada. When i was running my 335is FBO with the Petro Canada 94 i experienced a lot of timing corrections 3rd and 4th gear and not every station was equal in terms of gas quality.

I do appreciate the people here contributing to the forum its similar to the n54tech.com forum were i am coming from.

Cheers.

where’d you post your slips…the 1/4 mile thread? Thought it was in here before. St Thomas right?

St. Thomas yes

post up before you go next time. There’s a few guys around the area who may join. Start a thread in the 1/4 mile subforum maybe when you are planning to go.

sure will do i know that Jones was there the day after ;), i will try to hit the strip this weekend with racegas and some weight removal.

guess he kept his results a secret?

here is a short clip at the 4:38 mark you can see a lot of spin from the line

Are you forced to drive through the waterbox at that strip? I thought it looked that way in one part of the vid… If that’s the case this is probably why you are spinning… Do a quick launch prior to staging to dry the tires off and I bet it runs better…

no it was avoided, but wheel spin galore i did a quick burn out to rub the dirt off but again the track was bad and the Dunlops didnt help either.
