An Audi in the 7's (chopped A5/I5 content)

Shameless repost from motorgeek and the car is barely an Audi anymore, but impressive nonetheless.

The car looks awful IMO and the project is totally irrelevant to developing the platform (I sound like saki lol j/k :D), but it’s an impressive project and worthy of discussion nonetheless.

TL;DR: A5 with AAN / inline 5 engine swap, completely gutted for drag racing runs high 7’s in 1/4 mile trapping 170’s MPH.

very Audi really…isn’t it an I5T AAN motor in an A5 body with some 20 inch wide top fuel dragster looking tires?

white car? Same guys I think made an insane RS4 with that motor a couple of years ago that ran 8 seconds.

Always good when your 60 foot time is 1.1 and your 1/8th MPH is 142 MPH…a.k.a. the fastest B5 S4 1/4 MPH ever recorded.

It is very impressive, that a5 body looks hot with drag radials.

And that engine, I don’t think I need to say much about that …

I’d love to know what it’d run with a full interior and street tyres. Or even if it would be safe in street trim. And then I’d love to know what Ingolstadt think of these shenanigans and if they would consider raiding their parts bin to build longitudinally mounted I5 cars again! About as likely as their amusement at propping up South European economies :D. Although the new TTRS and RS3 are transversely mounted 5cyl engines so maybe, just maybe we’ll see them again longways.

The lexan side windows are the coolest part

I bet if you got some UV resistant coating they’d hold up better

as far as the car, I kinda lose interest once its no longer AWD. Thats what Audi is to me. Still a cool car, but it just loses something

I feel the same way about VR6 swapped B5 S4s. ‘Hey congrats! Now lets see what an S4 can do.’

One-off things like this never do anything for the platform. Like how that A4 TDi had a land speed record. Who cares? Doesn’t mean the B7 A4 is worthy of more than a trip to the mall. We have tons of B7 A4’s where I live and there are almost none that are driven by anything but a 35-65 year old woman

they freaked out of course in anger and couldn’t scream turbo and 3rd gear at me fast enough before choking on their collective tongues.

funny thing is that the quickest b5 s4 ever has a vr6 in it and no one called foul then, instead a bunch of them just ditched the 2.7 and went vr6.

and look at all the negative comments about the 4.2 they made. how funny is it that my 4.2 would pull on each one of them that made fun lol

shit, that’s true. I totally forgot about the VR6 B5. Damn!

I really don’t care about engine swaps…go balls deep and have fun. I just don’t think you ought to compare to cars with the OEM motor…kinda looses some of the luster in a win/loss.
