Another CEL

As most of you know. I just got JHM tuned and had a CEL that contained about 12 codes. My mechanic cleared all of those, mostly were due to disconnecting the battery, idle problems & 02 readings. I was CEL free for a full week, than I was heading up to an Ice Racing event Yesterday and my CEL came on again. I local plugged into my ECU and it came up on his I-Phone.

I do not have the code #, but I had 3 codes for “Engine Module”

Does anybody have an idea what this could be?? I am stumped, since getting JHM tuned, I feel I constantly have a CEL. Regardless, the car still runs fantastic!

I’m going to guess most people will want to see the exact codes. Also, have you sent the exact codes to JHM for them to assess? if you don’t have the codes available, just wait for them to come back and when they do, make sure you copy paste them all and send it to v8@jhm.

Thanks I will try that.

Post them here in the mean time

And invest in a VAG-COM cable. Lol

The cheap one from ecutool.com works perfectly.

Take it easy and

a) buy yourself a vagcom cable ($40 for an imitation one from ECUtool.com or $350 for the real deal from rosstech)
b) scan the codes yourself and post them up
c) panic less. It’s a CEL…not a death knell.

You also have to understand that your car is old. It’s going to have parts fail over time (little shit like o2 sensors etc.) and having a tune and exhaust setup that’s pushing more of everything through the system will shine a spotlight on your weaknesses.

Exacrly when you get more power it really exposes he old parts that were om there way out i wouldn’t loose sleep about it one of the great things about the Jim tune is ur getting a faster sample rate for stuff. Like your worried. Items that can cause issues. Im short the Jim tune is more cautious then the stock ecu

my car is old… :’(

I will look into this vag-com cable, I didn’t realize one could be had at around only $50.
