I’m not sure I’d worry about the manual tranny too much, maybe just a little refresh.
Like you guys mention, when you double the HP your gonna find weak points, but unless your launching the car a hundred times a day I think you’ll be just fine.
you’re not the only one. I’ve thought about that a lot. So has justincredible in his built motor tiptronic B6.
Unfortunately the marketplace wants a full time air source rather than a flick-of-a-switch solution. So the supercharger gets all the attention.
Think about it…how many nitrous kits are on the forums? 3-4? It launched February 2010 (that’s 4 years ago already) where I helped JHM install the first 2. And by helped, I mean I ate the food we had and told jokes while the smart guys did all the work
Since then I know of a dozen B67 owners who are supercharged, all in the last 18 months. So clearly the market is telling us something.
I ran nos+blower all be it in an m112 kit. When I used it, it was fucking hilarious. I had a controller that allowed me to pick the injection points in the rev range I wanted the nitrous to start and stop. Instant torque from 1800rpm to 7000 was fun. Those saying but an rs4 revs to 8k I was advised by the installer not to inject nitrous to redline. Think it was to protect the rods, can’t remember the full explanation
Well I know I’m going to find out one way or the other. Fortunately I do not drag race except between corners on a road course, so no hard launches for me. Just running through the gears on a road course will take it’s toll though.
I have always been a big fan of the JHM Nitrous kit. JHM brought in one of the original pioneers in automotive nitrous development as a consultant on the project.
It takes a great amount of work to actually get this kit, let alone nitrous itself to work, on the S4. As many of you have seen, guys show up tell you how they are going to add nitrous to their cars and then disappear. That’s because they car fights against what you’re doing and if you don’t know what you’re doing you’re rewarded with a blown motor. You can’t simply just hook up nitrous to the S4 and have it work.
The JHM nitrous kit is good for a solid 200+whp. They only give people a 75whp shot but, its actually a little more impressive when you look at the testing.
This is just a post for the JHM motor program, there is still more updates on what motor wise JHM is doing. I will say that it isn’t stopping at just that. There is development for the RS4 and S4 transmissions and full drivetrain. Some is available now. Maybe we need another thread for that?
There is one last section of the engine, in my mind, to be addressed before these engines are totally bullet proof. I spoke with Dan about it after a ride in the RS4 and I also saw a part of what I am talking about on the desk in front of Jake.
Also are these still the rods and pistons that are going into these engines?
