BBS CH.....and a tire dilemma

That’s food info. Those tires are around 23lbs I reckon so the wheels must be in the 26 range which is decent.

They look great.

Nice light set up!

Ya, keep the PSS since they are the better tire, Sale the yokos and dont look back. Looks like you have shaved about 10lbs off the stock setup right there which are 29lbs each for the tire and wheel.

Now simply adjust your stance as needed by lowering and bolt-on spacers for an ideal look!

spacers will be needed for sure. probably 10 all around. We will see when we mount them up this week.

So here’s how all of this came about. Bought the car in January. It had come into the dealer on trade with new sottozeroes on the peelers but no summer tires. So Pfaff Audi was kind enough to supply me the new set of Yokohama Avid Envigors (after having lead me to believe they’d give me an OEM set lol.) I was this close to mounting the Yokos on the peelers for this summer and getting wheels next year. Actually I had my appointment booked but called it off the morning of because we were supposed to get that snow or ice storm or whatever a few weeks ago.

Enter the BBS CH with PSS 80% tread for $2000

Just sold the Yokos for $500 and since I was this close to going through with doing a tire swap winter/summer and flushing $400 down the toilet I’ll factor that in too this one time…so I’m at $1100 cost on the wheels and tires. Feeling pretty darn good

sketchy…

LOL typo

Saki - “which, the 80 or the 90?”

I vote for 75-80% based on your pics posted above

So I posted those pics April 20th. They’re still not on the car yet. So I guess this is now a cautionary tale for those considering a purchase of 2nd hand BBS wheels.

First thing that happened was the seller provided me a set of hubcentric rings that he told me would get the wheels onto my car. The attempt at getting the wheels on at Saki’s place showed that the rings were wrong. I think they’re 66.56 down to 57. Meanwhile the bore of the wheels is 72.5, and BBS uses a proprietary Precision Fitting System or “PFS” that essentially complicates things for you because when you look up your wheel model to determine what size ring you need you’re told “PFS” rather than a number in millimeters.

Now the bad press for JRP - they’re a local BBS dealer in Mississauga but they won’t sell me a set of rings without spacers included, so to get myself hooked up with the rings I’m looking at $300 and 10mm spacers that I don’t want.

MTC Tire in Oakville will get me the rings but they say it’ll be $20/corner plus shipping and a two week wait while they come from BBS in Atlanta.

Luckily another Canadian BBS retailer (PG Performance in Surrey BC) knows wtf is going on unlike JRP and they have a set of the rings I need and they’ll expresspost them to me for $55 shipped. So the wheels should be on by early next week.

that’s mental.

need better photos. Car looks weird with the darkness.

Can’t wait to put an OEM peeler/sottozero on the scale now. Hoping for 7lb/corner. Haven’t stepped on it yet though, just had a quick drive through traffic from the tire place back to work this morning.

Is it reasonable to believe that I felt a noticeable difference between Sottozero and Pilot Super Sport while rounding an on ramp (stuck behind someone else) going 50kph? I think I did.

Wheels look awesome. Too bad I didnt see your post earlier about the rings. Tire Rack supplies them for a very reasonable price. I just purchased a set of BBS REs, and needed the PFS rings. Tire Rack sold me the rings, with new clips, shipped and taxes for about $50. Shipping and taxes were more than the rings themselves.

BBS RE?>???

What size? Where’d you find them? I looked everywhere for a set.

Did you buy them from that Bruno guy or something? he had a set that I was tracking for a while. They were sold by siggiepop to another guy…then his car was stolen…then Bruno bought the car from insurance auction after it was found. Had 18x8 BBS RE on there and they only weighed around 18 lbs each.

I had to look outside the box

Found a set off a 350z in California. The width and offset are perfect for the S6/A6 4.2. 18x8.5 front et24, 18x9.5 rear et24. Ill have to use wobble bolts, but I already have a set and used them many times before with no problems. The 5x112 18x8 size is too narrow for my cars, and the offset in that size wasnt great, and would need spacers.

Apparently, BBS lists the weight of the 18x9.5 at 21 pounds, but the actual weight is 19.8, verified on two different scales.

The set I got comes with 255/35 front tires, and 265/35 rear. Eventually Ill change them, but should be fine for now, since they are within 1.1% circumference, and the rears are probably worn down slightly more than the fronts, coming from a rear wheel drive car. When I purchase a new set, Ill go 265/35 front and rear.

The other nice thing about the 5x114.3 wheels is that the aggressive offset results in a deeper center hole. I like the look better anyway.

Seller wouldnt ship to Canada, so I have to drive to Niagara to pick them up. I figured it was worth the hassle considering the rarity of the wheels.

get a photo from behind, and along the side of the car so we can see how tucked they are

you said they’re 19x8.5 ET35 right?

What are the peelers? 19x8.5 ET32?

Wasn’t one of the S5 wheels 19x9.0 ET32 somewhere along the line?

RS4 wheels are 19x9.0 ET 29, or the equivalent of the BBS CH wheels shown with 9mm spacers

Your CH measurements - yes

Your Peeler measurements - yes

The peeler/sottozero on the same scale weighed 53.5 so I dropped 5lb/corner.

They look fairly tucked. 10mm would be good; 15 maybe awesome maybe a little much don’t really know.

what are guys running on the forums? There’s probably a big AZ wheel thread somewhere in the S5 section.
