Big Assed Snail

Saw this brutal thing today at Cars and Coffee at the Aston Martin dealer. I can’t recall if the owner said 1500 to the wheels or crank but its got drag radials and the guy said it pulls high 7’s in the 1/4 mile.

That last one is a '62 twin grill owned by a work colleague.

Nice shots, the guy with the Supra told me the same, 1500whp, but apparently he has gotten better at shifting, because he told me 8.5@177.

Yeah, he did say the 7s were with a different transmission.

that’s the $100+ dollar a barrel oil versoin of cars and coffee. PRetty fucking awesome.

Sweet rides. No time to make it down yesterday :frowning:

Went back today for the fitst time since may and it was pretty slow. The only two interesting really:

LOL ^^ 4 grand rear seat entertainment? Is that a couple of hookers or something?

Lol @ supra owner saying it goes 7s

possible…however at altitude I’d love to see it. Pretty improbable. Also the gap from 8.5 to 7.XX is gigantic. I can’t see a transmission shaving 6 tenths off his time.

At what point do you need a parachute? Is that just based on trap speed or ET as well?

Just kinda curious. When you’re getting into the 7’s, it seems like that’s getting close to needing a parachute on the back of the car.

There are/were a couple supra’s around me ranging for 800-1000+rwp, but most ran 9’s from what I recall. It’s kinda funny too, the guys really interested in the 1/4 all switched their manual Supra’s to automatics b/c they could control the launch and shifts so much better at that power level with a auto vs manual, esp when talking about a light RWD car.

150 mph

If you’re well into the 10s you’re probably threatening parachute territory. 7s is a guaranteed parachute.

The rule is

10.00-10.99 = parachute at 150 mph
7.50-9.99 = double parachute at 200 mph

i.e. 10.8 @ 130 is fine without a parachute, but 10.8 @ 150 needs one.

Correct
