Bigserve134's S5 build and review

these are strange concerns to have…especially when you don’t address them with JHM or the forum. If you’re concerned about ‘increased force down’ etc…I don’t even know what that means.

I do know that a LWFW is used on the R8 with the 4.2 FSI engine…does that mean Audi should be concerned about this ‘increased force down’ as well? Maybe have your mechanic call them up and warn them!

yeah, but he got $3000 from APR for the supercharger install, and JHM pays FUCK ALL to dealers. THey’re literally a nightmare for margins.

You’re being SOLD bigseve. That reasoning makes no sense. He is basically saying exactly what a lighter flywheel does…it helps you transfer more power to the wheels. The worst you’ so is blow a few axles, just ask Jimmy.

PS…I can’t fucking spell axle correctly since joiing the forums…thanks Axel.

If it helps APR ditched south bend AWE ditched south bend and most reviews ant good for them. I have had to help several people with clutch install issues and those were on stock clutches.

For the record setting runs in the rs4 APR used a jhm clutch.

Please don’t remind me. But the DSS axles are holding up nicely.

By the way, you may have a problem with spelling joining too. LOL.

Yep. APR used the R-series clutch kit.

It would be nice if JHM offered the R-series clutch kit for the B8 cars but I don’t think that they have gotten that far yet.

They just started offering it for the 2.7Ts in the B5/C5s. Of course they started offering that right after I got my stage one clutch for my A6. Just my luck - oh well.

I’m hopeful now that with jhm owning a S5 the R series clutch and supercharger won’t be too far behind.

I personally think that what the shop owner told you about the lightweight flywheel is a crock of shit. If anything that APR 1320 supercharger that you have puts a much bigger strain on the rest of the drivetrain. Did he ever think that maybe the supercharger plus you actually enjoying the car was what wore out the clutch in the first place?

I see what you’re saying now. I will go through those instructions well then call them up and quiz them  If the locktite is not applied then what could problem could it lead to?

RIght, which I why I came here and contacted JHM. But the physics of it makes sense, that freed up HP / torque will have to go somewhere in between the flywheel and the ground. Snapping an axle or drive shaft sounds expensive !

Eurocode, in LA did the supercharger install, and besides the fuel line popping off and spraying gasoline all over my engine bay last year everything else has been fine with the kit

This is a completely new shop I have never been to before. He did mention that since I have decided to go with the stage 4 JHM setup now that he will be making more money / margin on their clutch than southbend’s.

This is crucial bit of info I was looking for and wanted to know! thank you!
I contacted APR trying to find out info about clutches they are using in their big builds and specifically what clutch Arin put in his car and they knew nothing. Keith (not the Keith in our forums) Told me to do a google search for clutch options…some are made to be more streetable and others more race track…hit a dead end with that phone call…lol

Glad you all got my back! Thanks Euro

;D I am going to toss or cut out my fake plastic “air vents” and put some nice wire mesh behind them when I get that supercharger stage 2 upgrade!

Thanks all, karma all around!

funny, all I can see in that photo is the coolest B6 ever, and the fastest RS4 in the world. And, sybmolically, a Nogaro B5 left in ruins to rot.
