Borring but Annoying Electrical Issues

Sorry this post isn’t more sexy but I’m trying to figure out if 3 coincident electrical symptoms are related. 1) Drivers door is not recognized as being open when open 2) Coming home lights/leaving home lights do not come on when doors locked/unlocked 3) Homelink transmitter is no longer working. As I mentioned all three symptoms started at the same time so that is the reason for my puzzlement. If it was just the door for example I’d say microswitch right away. Any thoughts?

It may not be a sexy issue but it’s certainly interesting. Unfortunately, I can’t even begin to help you out. Hopefully someone with more knowledge will.

any dtc’s in the central convience module? Maybe try discharging everything and see if that helps (unhook both battery cables and touch them together, it just grounds everything and discharges the power from all the curcuits)

Yeah. There were 2: - 01403 glass beak sensor rear and - 01559 drives door can’t unlock intermittent.

start with the comfort modules then check the interior modals. record codes then go from there. last is the body control modal.

These would fault out and cause you to not get reconnection with the door sensor.

Hi. I did a full scan of all the modules and the only codes that came up were the ones listed above.

This fault makes sense for your problem and all three issues could be directly related: 01559 drives door can’t unlock intermittent.

Try taking off the driver’s door trim panel and see if the control module is wet. If it is wet you probably need a new one but otherwise you probably need a driver’s door new latch since it should have the sensor in it to see if the door is open or closed. You could also clear the fault and see if that helps but I don’t think it will.

Well I scanned the car again (got only that lock fault and glass break fault), cleared the codes, disconnected the battery terminals and discharged the car, reconnected the battery etc and I’m still having the issues. I figure I’ll have the door lock switch checked and replaced if necessary and see if any of the other issues resolve themselves and if not address them too.
