I thought it was proper ending on many counts. That psychopath Lydia got a slow death, a touching goodbye scene between Walt/Skyler, Walt saves Jesse, Todd eats it at the hands of his prisoner and Walt dies cinematically surrounded by his last love…the meth lab. It couldn’t have gone much better IMO. Grand slam.

I find it hilarious you mention Walt Jr as I’ve been joking around since episode 9 saying that Walt was going to use the ricin on Junior. Interestingly enough though, as I was watching the marathon yesterday and was surprised to notice Walt bringing the ricin to the meeting with Lydia in which he got the names of Mike’s crew in jail. I guess I completely missed that the first time around and as soon as I saw it yesterday it clicked that he was going to use it on her in the finale. Vince’s foreshadowing techniques and cinematography were truly amazing.

He does a lot of very subtle things as well. I’ve noticed several things on the second or third viewings of episodes. You can see Huell swipe the weed from Jesse when he bumps into him and goes “excuse me.” You can see the pink bear in a tree at the White house when Jesse soaks the place with gas. In the flashback with Hector and the cousins, a non-disabled Hector is sitting in a carved wooden chair with wheels on the side, foreshadowing his future in a wheelchair.
Also, these two were such good characters IMO. The fact that they were both scary dudes in real life just adds to it.
