Mistro. The car bumping forward is normal. Should only do a slight bump as if someone bumper tapped you. Other then that it’s normal. If it bumps and continues to go forward. It might be a dragging clutch. Try the test I mentioned to axel
I just realized that I can’t rev it from a standstill to 6k rpms and see if there’s any creep as I have JHM’s LA which holds the revs at 5k rpms. That said, whenever I’ve used LA, I never got any creep (at 5k).
Axel it seems like your clutch is still engaged on that video. If u go to redline and do the same BUT put it into 4th gear, does it lightly grind? Do you fight it to put into gear? Or is it smooth. My guess is that it’ll be hard and not easy
I didn’t upload a video. You might be referring to Mistro’s video.
Thread hijacker! (lol, kidding! )
Lol. Well slowly rev it without WOT. Does it still stop at 5k?
Actually found another person locally seems to be having some issies, clutch engagement point is all over the map, has had the JHM stage 4 for 2000 km’s, he’s having his transmission removed this week, I’m going to keep in touch with him, I’m also going to refer him to this thread, and hopefully we can get some more info, even if it is for different issues.
Mistro, im going to agree with Tony, seems like the clutch is still engaged even after you pressing on the clutch.
Good stuff
Yeah, I’m pretty sure it does. But again, for me, I could be bouncing off 5k rpms all day and my car won’t creep forward and I have no gear grind. I just can’t get into any gear at all now after a WOT run. This is about a month old. For the last 15 months prior, I could get into a gear no problem.
I am going to have to also agree it sounds like the pressure plate adjusted which I’ve dealt with before on my B6 S4 with the Stage 3 clutch. It was weird how it happened to me though. Did some pulls at night, parked until the morning, and the when I tried to drive the next day, I could barely push the shifter into gear. When the car wasn’t running it would smoothly engage every gear, but when the car was running I would push the clutch to the floor as far as it would go and the car would start rolling as I pushed it into gear without moving the clutch at all. After this started happening the first thing I did was replace the master cylinder and it didn’t help either. After a bunch of frustration, talking with JHM, and talking to local mechanics I decided to pull the flywheel and clutch again and found out the pressure plate adjusted all the way which left no room for the clutch to back off the flywheel.
interesting find. i to believe it can be that as well, i compared my old pressure plate to the new jhm one, and it seems the springs in the old pressure plate were open, and the new pressure plate ones were closed(not expanded)
That may be Mistro’s issue but I don’t think it’s mine. I have no trouble getting into gear when driving normally (I’ve been daily driving with this issue for 16 months now) and I have no creep when in first.
fwiw, what you described sounds exactly how my issue started out (minus the sticky pedal). I would get locked out of the next gear on a WOT pull, but after waiting for the revs to drop a bit I could put it into any gear normally. Eventually though it got really harder and harder to put it into any gear - even at stand still.
I would think there must be some type of unique modification to the pressure plate or else this would be an issue seen across all the lw setups. Just throwing in a new one may not solve the issue if it’s just going to happen again. Thinking back, I’d bet this was probably my issue as well since I was getting locked out of gears. I was also experiencing some vibration in the drivetrain in neutral around 800rpm which none of you seem to mention though, so maybe not related.
I see in your sig you have a built motor and supercharger - did you already have a build thread? If not, start one, I’d love to see how this goes…
No not yet bangoman. I started a thread about the engine problems and the start of the build here -> http://audirevolution.net/forum/index.php?topic=1697.0 but I haven’t started an official build thread as my motor is at JHM still. I may fly out to California to check everything out and take some pictures to get things started, but that may still be a little ways away. I’ll be sure to keep everyone here on AR up to date with the build and once it’s done and broken in, I’ll be sure to take it to Bandimere Speedway to get some times down. Wonder what kind of times I’ll be running with a 7,500 DA.
By the way, the site has been going extremely slow that last couple of days for me, anybody else getting that? God, is there any sort of development taking place now or has there been any new functionality integration that may have slowed everything down?
i had no creep either until i let the car sit for 7 days and then drove it and immediately noticed the clutch pedal was Fu*cked, and then the rolling in first gear happened.
yup really really slow. btw i just sent in my pressure plate to jhm. they should receive it in a week(july 4th weekend) poop.
Whens the R pressure plate coming out?
So now, half the time the clutch pedal is hard to push/bounces back super fast (with a lot of force) and the other half of the time, the clutch pedal stays down. This is for WOT near redline shifts. Slow regular driving still behaves normally with no issues.
This is so fucked up.
