Comparing APR Stage 3 to JHM Supercharger Kit on the B7 RS4...

Highest horsepower/torque Stock appearing sequential turbo MKIV Supra that I tuned. Went 141 in the quarter on street tires full weight.

I’m getting the feeling it went 11.9…

I haven’t posted on here in a while lads but read the apr kit has a no lift shift and LC map? I think if the tts kit could get that it would be more or less dead even with the other two mentioned in the heading of this thread. I was tempted to buy my old car back and give it a go. I just wonder if Mrc can be arsed trying it or is the tts kit selling well enough they have nothing to prove. Impressed with all of the options now available, i’d maybe even consider buying a cheap b7 over here sticking a kit on and tracking it.

Omfg someone wrestle the key board from this guy. I feel like im watching the movi3 tin cup and macavoy over here keep putting the ball in the water…go hunting for a few days…guy R/T stop fucking posting. Dude you work for the largest more successful audi vw performance compamy in the world…you have customers with 120.000 dollar S8 cars 90.000 dollar rs cars let alone the 60.000 s4. Do you really th8nk that you tuning a 6000 dollar toyota or neon or Mazda 6 is going to wow people into feeling better…fuck no…I tuned several ls1 cars and lt1 cars into the 9s. I tuned a boat load of colbolts…APR ill come tune for you…

You tuned a 700hp supra…great you and 500 other guys…if you think telling audi ownerd you tuned a buntch of rice rockets is going to help…you cant see your lost…your aactions of stripping the interior of a 90.000 dollar car to run a number just zays pure ricerocket mentality.

Know your demographics. Your a APR employee act like one. You look like a desperate kid working at a small bumb shop trying to drum up busniess.

J8mmy you said all of that with one picture…jimmy 4tw…get ur car to the track and bust off a new record

Now now… Nothing wrong with tuning a supra. I am rather fond of the mkiv supra. Even before that a particular movie ruined it.

And I do like Japanese cars. I could see myself owning a Z32 300zx TT or a NSX. In fact, I still toy with the idea of the former from time to time. I was seriously considering a GTR (that and the RS5 were the choices I narrowed down to). I’m not above it by any means.

Nobody is being snobbish. They’re just wondering what’s with the constant JDM references from APR’s head calibrator.

I have to say, to be ‘head calibrator’ or ‘manager of engine calibrations’ for APR, I’m a bit surprised he has time to waste time on internet forums talking shit about forum members, and the competition. I thought APR was ‘big time’. That’s really small time if you ask me.

TTSRS4:
Don’t worry, TTS is doing extremely well in the US. The kit is running flawlessly and we got one year under the belt. The heat management design of the TTS system is dead on! Nevertheless, the car is a crack addict for cool air. Huge difference in power between 91 degrees with 99% humidity, versus 52 degrees with almost no humidity. I salute APR for their new kit, just a year behind the TTS set up…

have you done any performance testing?

Good to hear it’s going well. Any other tts owners over here?

Also who ended up tuning yours?

PS what you described sounds like the opposite of getting heat management dead on.

Saki,

I’ve found a TTS owner, but his vehicle is an S5 4.2.

Hopefully he still has the car. I’ll send a PM to oger/rnlabas and I’ll see how he likes his modification.

I recognize that dyno.

Welcome to AR R/T. Good to have another Washingtonian on the board.

PM me for contact info. LOL

A business with no sign is a sign of no business.

Its not a public number, you have to be invited to give him your money. Sounds like the Bernie Madoff days.

Yeah he’s a one man show, and if you haven’t noticed, a petty douchebag who tries to bring down the successful companies by spreading fourth hand rumours and lies. He’s a small time joke in the industry

This was funny as hell

“Things don’t happen overnight, but you’ll never see anything less then perfection leave the shop. Worth the wait.”

I guess that’s debatable. Lots of things that leave his shop seem to do so in pieces of are about to be in pieces.

Just members from this site…killeds4 they blew a crack in his block on the dyno trying to be dyno racing champions.
TwitS4estate…his 2 year job (one of those ones referenced in the thread)… When he finally got it, he had a major failure. they said it was because they used the wrong studs putting the block back together that caused blown headgaskets…and for this it got shipped to seattle for another 15 months, where it ended up getting new tial 605 turbos rather than the previously installed brand new tial 605 ones on the car which were ‘fine’ (lol) .

Best case scenario? The headgaskets story was true, and sloppy work trying to rush a 2 year long, way overdue build out of the shop ended up with a blown up undriveable car that had to go back across country (where it took another 15 months to replace these studs and headgaskets lol).

I wouldn’t touch that place with your ten foot pole…let alone send someone there.

That is embarrassing. Guys like mJackson contacting people to push that shop…a shop full of piece of shit trolls.

Part of the reason why I never go into the Audizine RS4 section anymore is that its just a pissing match. There are the JHM guys vs the APR guys, and then there are the PES guys that everyone hates.

There’s a lot of good information to be had from a good comparison thread to really analyze the differences in performance in real life, dyno, 1/4 mi, acceleration, pbox, drivability, you name it. But you lose so much when these threads turn into pissing matches, when it turns into a war between both groups.

I’ve been in the B7 A4 section for over 4 years now, and I could personally not name two turbo kits off the top of my head that I would recommend to anyone. I built my own kit piece by piece, most guys end up doing the same or just go k04 since its a direct fit swap. My point being, we aren’t lucky enough to have the support you guys have, we don’t even have a single turbo kit that makes real power and real performance. But you rs4 guys, you have two great kits, you should be celebrating that you have far more options than my limited platform instead of arguing with eachother.

+1 fully agree. A power adder is a power adder. The “fight” should be against its BMW competitor E90 M3…

I bet a sakimano coke that the so called jhm guys have in fact at some point congratulated apr on their success. I know I have. I also get the feeling jhm and apr actually respect each other.

The arguments on AZ are almost never JHM vs APR in reality. The arguments usually stem from certain individuals spreading BS about the forum sponsor’s products. Certain poster boy children with a weird vendetta against JHM or technical knowledge deficient characters that just repeat what their friends tell them. There is also the Amviva trolls, but that is all they are, a bunch of low life B5 trolls trying to push a one man shop.

It’s nothing new to JHM, they had a ton of backlash in the B6/7 S4 platform even though they were the only company developing parts. In the end the community realized who the real deal was and today there is little argument who to go with. Eventually that will happen with the RS4.

Yes, having the power added choices are great, but I don’t think all of the offerings have put the R&D of the motor on the top of their list. Anyone can through a massive amount of boost at a car and make great power, but how reliable will that power be. How long with the motor last? JHM is constantly tearing motors down to look at wear items, to see how their parts or kit are affecting the engine internals. They throw high mileage engines in their shop cars and beat the shit out of then daily. I can guarantee that no one else does this. None of the other companies even have a shop RS4.

Yes, this is key.

JHM have had their own RS4 for almost 5 years, and have supercharged it since 2011.

MRC had their own RS4 during development of the TTS/MRC supercharger kit. The TTS owner also owned his own S5 4.2.

APR have never owned a B7 RS4 (still don’t). They borrowed a car or two from their dealers I believe, so that’s pretty legit. Much better than borrowing a customer car to practice on.

AMD can’t afford a fucking B5 S4 let alone a B7 Rs4. Apparently one of their test RS4 SC cars (aka a customer who let them practice on his car) wrote his car off, and Jason @ AMD bought it from the insurer. It’s a lump of twisted metal though, and I believe he did so to part it out. You may recall a while back Jason claimed he ‘owned an RS4’. That was it. Total fucking joke. They didn’t do any R&D on an RS4 that was balled up into the barrier wall on the highway. They probably just bought it to get the SC kit off of it and sell it to BenSTlie lol.

PES doesn’t have a fucking address anymore, let alone own an RS4 to develop on. They had their phone disconnected. Got evicted. Can’t believe we even have to mention them.
