Control arm question

The outer bushing that the lower strut mount attaches to on my straight lower control arm is failing. Has anyone tried to replace it? ECS doesn’t have it on their site but I found it here: http://www.partsgeek.com/catalog/2006/audi/s4/suspension/control_arm_bushing.html second one down.

Can you guys give me some insight here? If it isn’t wise to try to replace it is a MEYLE a good replacement for the entire control arm or should I stick with OEM?

Thanks fellas.

I would suggest just replacing all of your control arms. 034 kit is cheap and the bushings are stiffer.

I agree. When your in there its not bad to just inspect them and freshion them up. While I have OEM replacments. The 034 ones look good.

Thing is I have adjustable uppers waiting to be installed but cant due to lack of clearance. No room for more positive camber. I recently lowered my car a bit and had to roll the front fenders to make space for the 245s that are on my 19’s. Next summer I’ll put some 235s on and get the uppers done. I ordered the Meyle lower arm. The drivers side has been replaced within the last 10k under warranty so I went cheapish this time :-\

Thanks for the advise though fellas. I’ll probably regret my decision at some point down the road…lol

I just got my control arms(034) installed yesterday and the lower control arm that connects to the coilover doesn’t fit!!! The bushing is to wide… Didn’t know what to do so I just put the old one on and I still hear noise when I hit a bump!!!

What is your offset on the wheels? I have 19x8 wheels with 245 tires and I clear as long as I leave a small finger between the fender and the tire (and remove the inner lining screw).
So I’m curious what your ET is for your wheels (and your wheel width).

Why are you increasing(moving positive) your camber? and why is that causing you not to be able to install the control arms? Neither of those should prevent you from installing adjustable control arms. But maybe I’m just not understanding it, idk.

I’ve got 245/35s on 19x8.5 et35 @ ~25in g/f(a bit less now after break in) with adjustable control arms. Just installed them last week, so I haven’t gotten an alignment done yet. I do rub occasionally in the front and very rarely in the rear with a full car. Once the front alignment is dialed in and I raise it back up a bit I should be good, I hope.

Have you removed the top inner fender liner screw?

Yep. I forgot to take them out before I removed the jack stands the first time. I was rubbing just driving down the street at that point.

I’m wearing the inner part of the tires faster then the outer. I bought the adjustable control arms to remedy that with more positive camber. That extra positive camber effectively moves the top section of your wheel closer to the fender causing more rubbing. I have 0 extra room for more camber right now, with rolled fenders. So, I’ll get some 235s next year for summer and be gtg.

Yep. I did misunderstand it. Don’t mind me

Also definitely go get your alignment done. Toe is probably out of spec. You can run a surprising amount of camber without much tire wear problem, but camber plus a little toe will tear them up. Toe=0 for street car is a must unless you love buying tires (or don’t drive much).
