Curb rash on bumpers

I went from driving a lifted truck to the s4 and when I got it within the first few months I had curbed both bumpers. The scrapes are visible and pretty bad on all 4 corners. Any advice such as touch up pens or just respray them.

They’re pretty bad. :’(

I would say give it a few more months and then just pull the bumpers fill and spray them. Its not that much money.

I have had the care for about a year and a half and it keeps bothering me more and more.

Fix the right way, but I’d wait until your done ramming things.

If its just some minor scratches some touch up would be fine but it sounds a little more serious. If you get them resprayed make sure you pick a body shop that will take the bumpers off, take off all the grilles and moldings and will spend some time matching the color. What color is your car?

The car is black and the scratches are pretty damn bad. How much do you think it would run to get them resprayed?

Like gouged the plastic bad? Pictures would help. Could be anywhere from $350-500+ per bumper depending on how bad the damage is, shop labor rates and the quality of the paint the shop uses.

glad to see this thread has taken over the exhaust thread.

i would say if you are having this problem get those curb sensors installed on your car before you fix up your rash or else it is going to happen again.

I will go ahead and put pictures up tomorrow, I am done curbing it I try to stay away from curbs as much as possible.

put some pictures up.

Oh yeah, you definitely have to get them resprayed and have the body shop do a little refinishing on the damaged bumper cover. FYI, I bought a refinished (primered but not painted) bumper cover for like $250 and had the body shop paint (off the car) and then mount it up. I then sold the stock one for like $200. I also had part of the lower valence (the surround, not the fake “mesh” painted.

Where did you buy the bumper covers?

Enjoy. http://www.prestigebumpers.com/20aurs4rebuc.html

Since they were located within 30 or 40 miles of where I lived, they delivered for free. There site says they do nationwide shipping for $85. So, for $310 you have a piece that is perfect and ready for paint. The “mesh” is removed from your existing bumper and attached to the new one.

Then, do what i did and sell your factory bumper and hopefully you are near break even. If you don’t go this route, definitely find out if the body shop can successfully refinish your bumper (before painting) and how much they will charge.

Another thing you could consider is having those bottom edges covered in clear bra. Not only would it encourage you to be careful, it would save you from damaging the paint once or twice.
