Dynoed our RS5, stock. Anyone interested in the results?

would that 3.0T on 100 setup that you’re so proud of trap 125 mph? No? I didn’;t think so. Call me when you guys get deep into the 11s @ 125+. Then you can ‘be proud’ and talk shit. Until then, your platform is doing quite nicely. Certainly not worthy of this b.s. dick measuring with dyno results. If we want to roll out dyno results/measure dicks here…let’s not fuck around.

500 whp? Check
125+ MPH trap speeds? Check.
race gas? Didn’t need it. Tricks are for kids. 93 octane. Haven’t run the race file yet.

He bought it a year ago…already has 35k on it. He fucking loves the car. He tells me everytime he sees me lol. It’s a great car to recommend to people because it looks nice, is well built, is great inside, and is shockingly quick. Value is excellent, so everyone who asks me what car to get I tell them - new S4.

Explain what?

Sak/Jay,

You both make me ;D (smile)!

You both have your own opinions so I thought I’d throw mine into the mix:

B8 S4 vs. B7 RS4 (which is what this thread has become) I think it is almost certain the B7 RS4 with it’s 4.2l engine will be the more powerful car i.e. will most likely trap the higher speed with similar ET in the 1/4 mile and during highway pulls will probably pull on a B8 with similar ET… But I do feel the B8 has the advantage in a 1/4 mile race with its TQ curve… Lets be honest the B8 only does as well as it does because of its insane TQ curve… During highway pulls it’s clear that many cars with similar ET times are producing much more power and either catching and pasting the B8 or just begin to pull immediately in the pull! But all of the above is just my opinion! ;D

Okay so enough with the subjectivity by all and lets look at the data! Lets gather the fastest times for both the RS4 and S4 within the following categories, Stock, Stage 1/1+, stage 2/2+, and stage 3/3+on pump gas or race gas or both it doesn’t matter and see which platform is on top in most of these categories. This should be pretty easy especially with Sak’s 1/4mile spreedsheet (thanks Sak but my 12.0 run was on 94 oct not 110 just so you know… lol!) so we can determine at each stage which platform has the better times to-date.

What you’ll think?

b8 stock = 12.69
rs4 stock = 12.75

Not sure about stage 1 and 2 on the rs4, I know that one ran 12.2 with just some minor mods and no tune.

Fastest:

b8 stage 2+ = 11.76
rs4 stage 3 = 11.4

^^ Nice start but lets keep the generally accepted parameters of stock, stage 1/1+, stage 2/2+, and stage 3/3+ intacted. with that being said should also separate race vs pump so it would look more like this:

Stock
B8 stock (race) = ?
RS4 stock (race) = ?

B8 stock (pump) = 12.69
RS4 stock (pump) = 12.75

Stage 1/1+

B8 stage 1+ (race) = ?
RS4 stage 1+ (race) = ?

B8 Stage 1+ (pump) = ?
RS4 stage 1+ (pump) = ?

Stage 2/2+

B8 stage 2+ (race) = 11.76
RS4 stage 2+ (race) = ?

B8 Stage 2+ (pump) = ?
RS4 stage 2+ (pump) = ?

Stage 3/3+

B8 stage 3+ (race) = ?
RS4 stage 3+ (race) = ?

B8 Stage 3+ (pump) = NA
RS4 stage 3+ (pump) = 11.4

What defines a “stage” in the RS4?

Maybe…
Stage 1 = tune

stage 2 = tune + piggies/dps

stage 2+ = tune/dps/exhaust ??

Too bad there’s not more 1/4 mile time info on the RS4. Pretty sure I know all of them off the top of my head lol.

I was talking about my car…let me know if you’re out.

My guess would be as follows:

Stage 1/1+ - Tune, exhaust, intake

Stage 2/2+ - same as 1 + HFC/test pipes, headers, dps, maybe some LW components

Stage 3/3+ - same as 2 + Turbo/S/C

but again just a guess never fully understood what exactly makes up each stage! ;D

Speaking of RS5s…

Who wants to join me on Aug 18th?

Get to drive RS, S models at Monticello. Free event sponsored by Audi.

Let’s get some guys to go.

Just curious if any of you have tried using CarTest. It’s the ultimate bench racer, get the version 4.5 download since it’s free and works better than CarTest2000.

Plugged in the cars data (all specs including gearing, frontal area, CD, dyno plot (crank), using a 12" rollout, launch from 3000 rpm, etc etc). It’s pretty thorough, and simulates all parameters mathematically. Here’s what I get:

RS5 gets 12.6@112.3
The stock B8 S4 gets 13.0@106.6
B8 S4 stage I 93 gets 12.6@111.8
B8 S4 stage II 100 gets 12.0@116.5

The RS5 in particular, I used a 5500 rpm launch. If you use a 3000 rpm launch, the 60’ time goes from 1.87 sec to 2.00 seconds, which makes sense looking at the power up top and weaker torque. I’m curious if the DSG is tuned for this at launch. Noticed it hits redline in 3rd at 112 mph, basically right at the 1320…and top speed in 5th.

Look at that track…wow you should go.

bahh its all full up  … I had my gf sign up since I’m not old enough to drive the cars. If by some stroke of luck she gets off the waitlist I’ll be there

Those guys in Russia having some fun. ;D

Same car above…Run against Bone stock M3.

It was a joke…expand is what it says. The rs4 dynos I was referring to dynod over 500 whp so they can’t fit on your chart of “lets compare some ridiculous unrelated shit”

Bear…stages don’t exist on all motor cars…

There is just bolt ons or power adder added

Fastest stock is 12.75@108.36
Fastest bolt ons is 12.28@112.45
Fastest power adder is 11.41@125

As Meistah said the 1226 car wasn’t even tuned but was on race fuel which is frankly as irrelevant to me as stripping your interior. Interesting but not a benchmark as it is not street.

Start a new thread for this though.we should be talking about three rs5. I mentioned rs4 stuff to I because of the engine also being the high revving 4.2 fsi and we don’t have any modded rs5 info yet.

That Russian stuff is a joke by the way. Primetime and I referenced it in a thread here already.

Yeah Saki, it must be ridiculous to compare with the B8 S4 in this forum…

Do you really run the 1/4 with NO changes? Street tire pressures, full tank of gas, AC on, all the crap still in the car? I actually don’t remember. Besides, just because you don’t care for race gas, doesn’t mean everyone feels the same way - and in the S4 the difference is massive. No, there will not be such a big difference in a NA car, a little ignition timing advance, but not nearly as much as in a FI car. I don’t do impromptu racing…even for the trips to Mexico, there is always some prep involved, of which there is plenty of time to switch to race gas (and yes I now have a rig I can siphon my gas out safely and quickly).

As it sits, it would be difficult to get that RS5 anywhere near S4 100 octane performance, without a power adder. It’s already pretty much tapped out as it comes from the factory.

Anyhow, I’m not sure how much more there is to talk about the RS5, until someone here picks one up.

Meh don’t care about race gas

We are not in a drag car…we are measuring our street cars
So why not run in full street mode.?

If a car needs race gas to be fast that’s not for me.

As for the na car not benefiting, and the supercharged car doing so, I don’t see it as such a huge difference on the high revving 4.2. You picked up what…two mph or two tenths?

Arin, can you add in the pbox data?

Also I wanted you to know that PBOX data is usually optimistic on the screen, but the data file that is saved to the SD CARD will have the truth hidden in it.

If you want to go re-test it and then go from the car data, that would be far more valuable for the various forums. It will highlight the elevation changes you referred to, and will allow you to ensure that you are not shortchanging your delta on re-test because you ran on a different part of the road etc.

It would also ensure the integrity of the data can’t be called into question if you make full disclosure a policy by emailing that file out to someone like me or TSIVAS with PBOX experience.

An RS5 owner tried LC on his car… Unfortunately, it doesn’t look to work any better than that of the S4 LC, granted it revs to 4.5K-5K but still has the dealy after you let off the brake… He is going 18mph before the revs start to move forward quickly…

Arin, Does the RS5 you guys have exhibit the same behavior?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3zFSIWxf3g&feature=youtu.be

I missed this (and the forum did too)

Let me know if you ever want to make a vid of some sort. I’m always up for it. Would be cool to have you race my buddy’s MT6 car which is also bone stock.
