First attempt at drag strip

Skid, MDMA2004 can launch better anyone I’ve ever seen on the B8 S4. Here’s a post, 12.8@109 with intake and exhaust only.

There’s a video of his tach during a launch floating around, ill look.

Its he an old B5 guy? Seems top be catching the upswing like they do.

Two things I see form time to time.

  1. Make sure you are in the performance map.

  2. Make sure you don’t have air in the CPS system. I’ve seen a couple people not bleed air form the system and it sends IAT’s through the roof.

When you say performance map, are you referring to dynamic mode or the different octane tunes? I have 91, 93, and 100 tunes from APR on the car, but only 91 octane gas available. I did find 1 station that has 100 octane pump gas, so I could mess around with that mixing it with 91 in order to safely switch tunes.

How do I remove air from the CPS system? I continually topped the coolant off in it for a month after I got it until it stopped going down. Now it sits with the reservoir about half full. If I fill it up above that point, it will overflow out of the overflow cap when the car is running until the reservoir stays about half full.

Good qustion. Anyone know the answer

Skid/Flowtech, Per the instructions the installer should have used a vaccum tool to purge the air from the system as this is a critical step… There usually remains a little air in there either way… What I did for the first month or so is after driving open the resivoiur and if it was low add coolant… I ended up adding a few cups over that month… I have the instructions if you want to see them I can email them to you just send me an email address…

you added cups of straight coolant, or a mix?

Both… The one time I was at my brothers shop and he has deionized water for his wire machince so I used that and when at home I used coolant… A few cups was a guess based on adding a little here and there several times…

You can remove the air with a coolant pressure tester (link below). It will pressurize the system and pull the air to the surface then you just release the pressure. The added bonus is you will know if you have a leak in the hose as it will not hold pressure.

I’ve had it installed for a few days and still notice a few pin size micro bubbles every now and again. Also after aggressive driving I notice the level goes down a bit then raises back up to 1/5 of the resivoir. Not sure if that’s normal but it has been my experience.

Bear, So you got the CPS? Nice… I take it you decided to keep the car… Any other recent mods? I am adding the JHM LW rotors this weekend…

Yeah I just think the S4 is a better all around daily driver than the GTR! Though I’m sure I will pick one up as a weekend/summer car eventually. ;D

Mods wise just the CPS and V2 tune. Not sure how well this CPS unit is working at cooling the S/C as my IAT’s remain pretty high, though I’m seeing a lot of boost 16.5-17psi (the 17psi is a result of the gears changing from 3rd-4th as Jason explains it). What are your IAT’s looking like? boost?

Yeah I saw you picked up those rotors… Very Nice… shaving the rotating mass will help with acceleration and improve those 60’ times! 1.5x FTW!

Cant you pull fuses?
I could do that on the TBSS and also the 335xi

the b8 has the same two stage esp as the rs4 does
