Had a run with a Mustang LX 5.0 Notchback and....

spanked him pretty good. I had him by at least three cars at the top of 2nd with a mis-shift to 3rd…whatever I was clearly cleaning his clock at that point anyway.

The car had a huge cowl hood and sounded mean. I think those things were only rated between 200-225HP from the factory depending on the year, but can be made to be monsters. This one clearly was not…maybe just exhaust/intake work. I think the notchback’s are much lighter than the S4, not sure how much, but I think it’s pretty considerable. Even with that advantage, he got toasted.

Anyway, just wanted to share. Maybe this wasn’t such a big kill, but it sure was fun.

Video or ban. LOL

The fox body mustangs were very light and very mod friendly. Its not too much work to get them into the 12’s Still its always good to take down some of the domestic guys. Even if I am a ford lover.

I wouldn’t get your hopes up about repeating that performance against very many fox body 5.0s. I owned a 86 with the HO Cobra motor, just minor bolt ons… In a straight line I’d be very surprised if my S4 could keep up. Most of them that are still on the road are pretty worked over, at least around here.

Yeah I wish I had a passenger to grab vid every time this sort of thing happens…this was very impromptu as they usually are. Yeah I like Ford too, I used to have an 85 Mustang GT…last of the carb versions before they went FI. Fun car.

Nice win. I cany wait to open mine up. Still got like 200 miles till all hell breaks loose:)

lol those old mustangs are something else. They’re either:

a) bone stock and owned by the original owner
b) modded, but poorly, and in shit running condition and owned by a young kid who can’t afford oil changes
c) modded, well, and able to run with many $100,000 cars of today without breaking a sweat
d) modded to the 9s and able to run…9s. Or better.

My dad had one back in the 80s. It was pretty crazy to have a 5.0 V8…that was rated at 225hp lol. The car was fun and was faster than the GT of the day because the GT was marginally heavier. At least that’s what we LX people told ourselves lol. The LX 5.0 hatch weighed around 3000-3100 lbs. The coupe was a hair lighter, and the GT a couple hundred pounds heavier.

Nice

Saki - Makes me wish I had the money to buy Jays old stang back in the day. That car was super nice and fast!
