HP Gains

Welcome nasty.

Here is a little of what I wrote in think you know most of it

that stock air box is pressurized and that is a big plus. If you have a scoop on the bottom of the air box you can help pump more cold air in there. That would always be helpful it works great on the rs4

As for the wrap on the dps. That’s always a great idea to help keep more heat in the exhaust system then to let it bleed out. Hp wise is there a measurable difference it might be hard to measure the difference but the benefit not there.

These were mine…again it’s not a bad idea

What type of wrap should I use? Def would like to keep my floor boards cooler as well. Nothing but big purchases left  time to start saving

I used DEI (Titanium Exhaust Wrap with LR Technology)

I don’t remember how much I used, sorry. It was 2" wide. The only negative is the wrap can irritate your skin if you have to remove and replace them in the future, so it will be a good idea to wear eye protection and long sleeves.

Is that some sort of ceramic coating on your exhaust manifolds as well?

Looks like BBQ grille paint

This shit is amazing. I love using it

I just hit them with some VHT flameproof while I had them off.

Swag, you of all people should know that NOTHING is flameproof on THIS forum!

Great idea. It’s good to put a coating on the wrap to help stop obsorbing oil if any leaks on it.

I added some spray to my wrap. Car smoked like a motherfucker when it got up to temp lol. Stinks too

It will smoke anyway, whether you spray it or not. Not only does the spray help keep it from absorbing fluids to later burn off and stink for a long time - as opposed to burning and dripping off right away - but it also helps keep the material together. Over time, the fiberglass gets even more brittle due to its heat cycling, and eventually just touching it will make it fall apart. Putting the protective spray helps (some) to keep it from falling apart so easily.

quick question, how much wrap did you guys need for the dps?

Welcome to the site. 25 feet should be good for both sides. But depending on the thickness and width of the wrap your unsung and how you wrap it some people use 25 feet almost a side.

If we can get Jimmy Bones to contribute here, he knows how much, at least for the JHM long tube headers.

There are calculators for how much header wrap is needed. Like this: http://www.heatshieldproducts.com/exhaust-wrap-calculator

For headers you want one inch wide wrap but for downpipes and/or catback you want two inch wide wrap.

FYI, with either version of JHM headers (version 1 or 2) there is little room to wrap the pipes before there isn’t enough room to wrap each each individual pipe.

thank you, good site, much better then az. alright thanks, i was planning on getting 50ft just to be sure.

Yes 50 feet will be just right.

And as for AZ all we ask over here. Is let the nuckelheads stay on AZ but if you see people that need real help or real direction. Help pm them and send them over.

LOL ya it was a bitch wrapping the headers. Ill post a few pics of my setup in a few weeks.

re header wrap, that shit sucks
