If you had 3-4 days in France (Paris) what would you do?

So I’m going to the UK for a couple of weeks in August, and I am flying in to Paris first. I was thinking of spending a few days there (3-4) but was wondering…should I hang in Paris the whole time, or should I instead rent a killer car and go on a ripping drive for a day or two? Will be with my girl.

Just wondering what you guys think. I have to be in Glasgow by day 4 so not sure if I should spend the whole time in Paris, or what.

Disclaimer: I am not Paris’ biggest fan. In fact it is my least favourite part of France.

That being said, there are the inevitable tourist sights to see in Paris, and like all major European cities, must be seen at least once. You could easily kill 2-3 days there and then get the Eurostar to central London.

Other info requested: Are you flying home from Paris? How are you getting to the UK?

Some of my favourite places in France:

  • Quiberon (Brittany), pretty seaside town, gorgeous food. It is 500km from Paris though, so probably not a great option
  • A mere 180 km away is Troyes which is deep in the Champagne region. Reims as well. I’ve never been but here it is another pretty place and of course the real deal Champagne. Apparently a good one to impress the ladies.
  • Another option is to spend a day in Paris, then rent a car, then drive to the Normandy coast and spend 2-3 days exploring the beaches, food and the WW2 trail. finish the drive up in Calais and just to the UK that way.

What is this kilometer you speak of?

It is the proper way you measure distance

As far as I can see, the km is a unit used by countries either trying to shake their colonial ties or countries that couldn’t cope with proper units. Or China.

hahaha

No its because who wants to deal with fractions…

Thanks. I’m flying to Paris, then don’t know how I will get to Scotland. First I was thinking we’d take the trains (TGV to chunnel then train it up on ScotRail from London to Glasgow…would be pretty picturesque.

I was going to fly out with RyanAir or EasyJet. Want to know how much it is? One way, Paris to Glasgow = 72 euros. Total. For two. lol.

that last bit sounds awesome

I’m very jealous Saki, I’d like to visit western europe at some point

Is traveling to other countries an option? You only have 3-4 days which isn’t a lot, but maybe you could do a day in Germany. Go to Ingolstadt and see the Audi Museum if you can. Obviously Germany is out of your way, but if you’re in Europe, might as well try to see it.

Any time to head over to MRC? Show up and beat some answers out of them.

hahahaha MRC

Can you imagine? “Hey guys…let’s go to Santa Pod. I’ll pay for gas money and test+tune fees”

then wait to hear 40,000 excuses come streaming out of their pieholes.

They would pretend there’s a language barrier. That’s what I’d do

Having both been born there and having lived there for a number of years, I should probably pipe in but I’m off to play some squash now so maybe later

rent a fun car and take a trip to the Route of Napoleon. Epic driving road leading to the mediterranean.

other than that, the only other thing you can do in france is have sex with men

Beat up on the sex traffickers like Liam did in that one movie where they took his daughter!

taken

that movie was like an Audi commercial lol. It was leaked in HD on the internet before it even hit theatres. I thought it was pretty good. The trailer was awesome. ‘I have acquired a particular set of skills…’

It was pretty good. But it would have been so much better had his daughter died and the friend was the one he found. IMO.

Sorry, Spoiler Alert!!!
