Intake Manifold Discussion

Just throwing this out there, or rather thinking out loud. I wonder if a B5 S4 or B5 RS4 intake manifold would fit. The B5 has the intake on the front of the manifold and you wold either have to turn the manifold backwards or re-route the stock 3.0 piping to the front.

Pic of the B5 manifold…this is the later one after the '01.5 refresh

That would be awesome if we could run a B5 S4 intake manifold, but the port size of this intake manifold is smaller than the 3.0 so we would have to open that up. Not sure how hard or easy that is to do. Also when it comes down to putting it on not all of the locations for bolting it down line up.

The RS4 one would fit as the rs4 ports are the same size as the 2.8 heads.

Here is my take. The intake would fit but you going to loose that lower RPM power. Its deffinitly a great idea. I say try it. Im sure you can sorce one for cheap

Wow, good thinking. This is what I was talking about earlier, I’m sure some things we run into as performance walls can be overcome with existing audi parts for other platforms.

I’m assuming the b5rs4 would give top end gain, so maybe we can figure out a way to minimize or eliminate bottom end loss. All in good time though.

Anybody interested in an extra IM assembly for testing purposes?

I’d be happy to get it from him and ship to somebody

I think that would be great to do. The 3.0 intake is a very limited design, it was only used for that one line of cars and then they seemed to never go back to that type of transition gate between the runners. See if it comes with a throttle body. That would be a big issue if you ask me.

If your saying that the IM for the 3.0 is a one off design then, what does the 2.8 V6 IM look like. This is just think as locating a B5 RS4 IM would probably be exspensive and hard to find
