Is Audi going to far with their RS cars

It seems Audi is throwing one of their RS engines in a Q3

I personally think that if they make this it will king of cheapen the RS stature, it would be fine if they just left as an S model.

Or they should just make the top end model a diesel like they did with the Q7

just concepts to make you look

made you look

I wouldn’t be too shocked if Audi jumped on the band wagon with the SUV’s going this route. BMW & Mercedes did it with the M and AMG divisions.

I bet they don’t. They barely do it with the cars.

While MB has an AMG version of every single car they make (even a frigging R63 minivan + the ML, Gwagen etc.). Audi has hardly any.

A1 - never
A3 - RS3 yup
A4 - RS4 yup
A5 - RS5 yup
A6 - RS6 for the last 2 generations
A7 - not yet, but its early
A8 - nope, never have
R8 - the R8 V10 is basically an RS version of the R8…which in itself is an RS car

The trend used to be to issue RS cars sparingly. i.e. just the 4 and 6 cars. Now that they’ve broadened the lineup we’ll see but they haven’t ever done an RS8 for example. I’d be inclined to think they’d make that before they make an RS Q3 or Q7.

woudlnt it be a RQ3, RQ5, RQ7? :stuck_out_tongue:

Q3aRSe

Two more…

TTRS
RS2

RS2 is really an early RS4 Avant before they had the A4/S4/RS4 nomenclature, so I consider that already part of the list.

TTRS I just forgot about. You can see the trend though…no non-sporty RS cars. They’re all derived from sport models (sport sedans, sport avants, sport coupes). No big boats, no trucks, no economobiles.

We’ll see.

^I agree, that is the current trend. I just wouldn’t be shocked if they joined the ā€œspecialā€ suv line. Like you said, we’ll see eventually.

well if they make a fucking RS SUV…we’d BETTER see the RS4/RS6/RS7/RS8 FIRST…and we’d better get them here in North America.

Or else I’m going to write an angry letter!

Start typing

The V12 TDI Q7 was pretty RS-esche, lots of uniqueness

Yeah, the Q7 V12 TDI was a cool vehicle. Too bad it never came here.

In regards to their SUVs, not sure what Audi is doing, but they did register the RSQ5 and SQ5 names last year.

they also announced a factory in Mexico today. Going to probably use it to build all these SUVs that Americans like so much. Basically spells the death knell for us ever seeing an Avant over here again other than that AllRoad.

ugh, I don’t like this.

I did order a q5 s-line before I decided to can it for an S4, especially since they were essentially the same price when i optioned it out.

If the only way I could get an S4 Avant here was in a Q5-S, I think I would go for it. Lower it with proper suspension and you could have a decent car.

Either way with Audi essentially killing the avant for the north american market, it solidifies even more-so that I will be looking at an MB after this car. I love that MB has the balls to offer the E63 in a wagon over here, and that 5.5 biturbo is just too good. ;D Hell even Cadillac offers a hot wagon, but Audi who is known for their avants wont do it.

That E63 wagon is nuts. Love it.

MADE IN MEXICO…

fuck that!

^^ +1. Definite difference between the wife’s old mk4 Jetta built in Mexico vs her old mk4 Golf in the UK. The interior just felt more solid and well put together. No idea if the materials were different though. Either way [smite] for VAG!

tell me about it. I was looking at the new AllRoad today. Optioning it out reasonably well (not crazy) the ā€˜premium’ model, which is the middle model, + $2000 nav + $400 park assist worked out to $52,100.
That’s coincidentally the base price for a B8 S4.

So I just said fuck it…I’m keeping my B8 Avant for a few more years and making it a bit nicer (tint, new steering wheel, better looking winters and that’ll be solid.

Isn’t the allroad basically the same as your B8 Avant except with the 8 speed tiptronic and aggressive fenders?
