Left something at the track...

LOL

Went to Island Dragway last sunday to get some practice in and this is what happened on my first pass.

Not really a “pass” either. spun out the hole and after the 1-2 shift that is what resulted. Broke into four pieces, one big chunk was left behind and i had to get towed home since my motor and trans had tilted back way too much. Have another one, just having the hardest damn time fitting it with the trans mount and bracket due to the long tube headers. I have one of the first sets so im not lucky like some to have the much more narrow v-bands, i have the 2 bolt flanges. Hoping to have it back up by this weekend. Wanted to get out to englishtown today but second week in a row, wash out.

New product: JHM billet aluminum trans crossmember.

Seriously though, mine is cracked by one of the outer bolts.

That’s awesome to tell your friends “yeah she’ll do an 11 if the trans crossmber don’t explode from teh powwa”

those things are made of shit metal anyways, not a surprise. I’d just have someone fab up a tubular steel one. Thats a big thing for F-bodies, you can drop 40lbs from the front end switching from the stock subframe to a tubular steel one.

The metal is probably the same shit they use in the trans mount bracket I cracked, thin poorly alloyed cast shit.

holy shit!

you weren’t kidding when you said you broke it.

lol - I’ve seen this happen to a friend’s car (not Audi). He thought the transmission fell out of the car when heard the thud and his car hopped up a bit as it slammed around under the car. A sturdy aftermarket solution would be great. Stronger and lighter always works.

Wow! You don’t even have your built engine yet,do you?

Get used to breaking stuff! :stuck_out_tongue: With the power you’re making, any weak points in the drive train will rear their ugly heads pretty damn quick.(and I’m sure you know this already)

Epic build,91! You’re setting the bar!

thats sick! Nice kill! lol.

Nothing Duct tape cant fix hahaha

The Shop that First Installed Agent91’s Headers significantly notched them to the point where it weakened the cross member enough to break like D’s did. We have yet to break one on our cars but will look into the possibility of an upgrade…

Hey Dan (JHM’s general manager)…good to see you found your internet explorer icon again

Yo doag, they actually didn’t break at the notches. I’ll get more pics

dam #1 on the 4.2 S4 performance list for a reason. Dam talk about going for it. That has to take a lot of power to brake that conector piece.

Ridiculous I had this happen with my mustang back in the day. However you really showed me up as I just broke the bolts. Wild.

Wow, i better check mine out next time im under the car AKA in a week or so.

were you able to get a new one on?

Interested in hearing how you’ll manage to slide a new cross member over the headers
