Lewis Hamilton to leave Mclaren-Mercedes for Mercedes AMG Petronas in 2013

Vettel was damn funny on Top Gear

Preach brother Preach!

Seb is fast!!! I believe he’s not as exciting to watch as others because… well… he’s German! lol J/k’ing. He is more strategic or at least Red Bull seems to want him to be. But every once-in-awhile he shows his youth and he goes against the grain like at the Japanese grand prix where he continued to set fastest lap, purple in all sectors, etc. even on the second last lap with like a 25sec lead! Or yesterday when his front right tire was warn to the core with 7 laps to go and he still continued to push the pace.

I love Seb but what about Massa? Holy sh*t I’d be pissed hearing my own team telling me to slow down “keep a 2.5 sec gap”. I know Alonso was leading in points but I think two podium finishes in a row would have shot Massa’s confidence through the roof!

Something about Seb I don’t care for. Almost like he’s had it too easy, especially in a Newey-designed car. Compare to the challenges and failures and FIA ‘sanctions’ that all the other WCs have had to go through, look at Alonso, Hamilton, Raikkonen, Schumi (who I’ve always detested but still). I think Seb deserves some hardship thrown his way, beyond a broken alternator.

He’s such a winner - I want to see him lose a little more to see his true character. See how weird Hamilton gets when he’s out of his element? He still gives it his all though and his talent doesn’t suffer - and that’s why he’s still in massive demand. Seb to Ferrari in 2014 seems to be a badly-kept secret, just like Raikkonen was in 2006. Well you can be sure he’ll suffer there…

Seb to Ferrari rumors goes deeper to me, though. Why not red bull? Is red bull going to back away from F1 the rule change year in 2014? Maybe that’s what we aren’t hearing.

And why isn’t someone like Newey getting paid $60MM for 3 years? 2013 will be a huge year for factory development, it seems.

Whilst he wasn’t a winner, I thought Vettel was a pretty neat driver at Toro Rosso. I was a die hard Hamilton fan before 2008 but recent events have just turned me off him.

Hamilton will be at the wheel of a Brawn car. Which in itself will be interesting. There’s been a lot in the British press how Hamilton is leaving an established team for the relatively “green” Mercedes works team but I think they forgot about Ross Brawn.

Seb was a winner at Toro Rosso, at Monza I believe…that’s when they allowed them to use the V10 motor as opposed to everyone else who used the V8s, based on the old Minardi deal.

What’s odd is I HATED Hamilton up until the last couple years. Watching some of his drives again from the last few years, and his aggressiveness now, I really don’t care how silly he is off the track. He has, to me and to a lot of the other F1 drivers, the most raw driving talent the sport has ever seen.

That used to be Alonso, especially when he beat Michael on pure driving skill before his first retirement. Drivers like Alonso and Raikkonen practically FORCED Michael into retirement at the time. Now that’s a feat. But Alonso, he’s really become a pretty boring Prost-like driver as of late. I think getting beaten in a straight fight at McLaren, resulting in a detention at Renault for a couple years, it forced him to change his style to become the “complete package”. But you gotta face it, he drives with the passion of a loaf of bread these days.

Ross was smart, but don’t forget it was Niki Lauda who set this new gig up with Hamilton and more Mercedes money for the next few years. He has Benz all fired up and we’ll see how well this goes. Hopefully better than his Jaguar days.

Now, Kimi Raikkonen - love that guy. I hope he gets a drive at a big team during this second comeback. I was glad for the 2007 win even if it was Lewis he pipped to the title.

Why can’t we post videos in a post using the format on AR?

Kimi is the man.

Also, I love the Finnish way of being asked very long specific questions and answering with just a simple “Yes”. Kimi loves to do this in interviews, just giving the most basic broad response while still technically answering the question.

Still the best kimi interview ever:

IIRC Martin laughed and said “well you’ll have a nice light car on the grid then”

Ever see the Top Gear episode with James May spending a day with Mika in Finland? Pretty hilarious.

Yupp, that is where my statement came from.
Everytime I see an interview with Kimi I think of that segment with Mika…“Yes”

I also like the time before a race they looked around for him and he was sleeping under a table.
“I like to sleep. Sleeping is very important to me”
…gotta love that guy

Awesome clip!!! I thoroughly enjoyed watching it. I wish I knew how to drive like that.

I didn’t watch the Indian GP but I see that Seb won and has now led every lap of the last 3 races. The boy’s on another planet with that car!

In other news, I finally managed to see the Kimi Raikkonen Top Gear interview. Brilliant! I don’t know how long Perez’s contract is at McLaren, but Kimi back to McLaren in 2014? (which is when his Lotus Renault contract ends) He’s obviously still got pace as he’s 3rd in the standings right now in a pretty average car, ahead of a Red Bull and the 2 McLarens.

Some interest views on Vettel and Alonso, but this time from Hamilton and Button:

Hamilton on the championship leaders:
"I don’t really get time to race against Sebastian. He puts his car into the maximum engine setting and he’s gone. The only difference is that Seb pulls away faster than Fernando does.

“Fernando is more, for me, accurate. He hits all the apexes. Sebastian misses four apexes on a single lap and still goes quickest. He goes off and he still goes quickest. And I think: ‘Holy crap, I couldn’t do that lap even if I was on my limit.’ His car is just that far ahead of everyone else’s. They made such a big step for some reason.”
Button on the same:
“Seb has less pressure on him at the moment. He’s in a car that is quicker and has been for a few races and done a very good job. For Fernando it’s more tricky. The pace is not there, although that’s more in qualifying.”

Uhh… 21 grid spot improvement! Not bad Seb… Not bad…

Holy shit what a start in Brazil!

VETTEL - yes!

Schumacher - signing off on a high. What a gent.

Would that count as overcoming adversity…

Best reverse maneuver I’ve ever seen

wonder how Mercedes felt about it? Think he asked them? Or was this a ‘thanks’ for bringing Hamilton in and ensuring he retired?
