well the guy on AZ has an 02. So i am confused, its just like the 2 different DP’s all over again
If this is the case we are all in for one big headache. Why can’t all is “performance” boys have the 3" and all the cruisers who are satisfied with slow have the 1.89…
Soooo lame… Thanks a lot Audi…
If you have the owner’s manual, it’s listed somewhere in there. I’ll check it and post a screenshot when I get home.
If you open the d/s door theres a vin sticker on the door jamb, on that sticker it’ll say mfd by audi ag
the next line under that xxxx, mine for example says 1103
Thanks, I’ll have to check it when it comes back from the shop.
loud and proud 23 farmington mi.
Nate, 25 and living in Harrisburg, PA. 06/02 build date on my door jamb sticker.
Anywayyyy

Hi names jon. From methuen Massachusetts. I am 20 years old. My cars build date is 10/2001 my car is crystal blue six speed manual.
In two years, we’ll go back and rename this ‘The reason we were targeted by identity thieves’ thread.
re the downpipes and the exhaust manifold, wouldn’t it make sense that the single giant cat downpipe cars all have the shitty 1.90 exhaust manifold, while the pre-cat main-cat downpipe cars have the 2.5" mouth manifolds?
I’d bet a Coke on it. Would be nice and easy if that was the case. That way to tell if you have the shitty manifolds, you just need to eyeball your downpipes.
LOL!
If that’s the case, all the post 02 cars have the single big cat. Super lame.
If I have small manifolds. I will be pissed.
I’ll cry.
Not sure what the solution would be in the case of different sized manifolds outside of sourcing the larger ones from a junkyard.
^Longtube headers or turbo’s. Seems like the most sensible solution to me in that case. . .
Lol, I was thinking what would the most cost effective solution be. I think the word is that the manifolds are efficient enough to not really need headers?
This brings to light a turbo question, which I will post in the chit chat thread.
I will take that bet
If you check out the dp testing thread, which Shawn is doing he has the single giant cat along with the good manifolds
I think he has an 02 as well though. My guess is it’s based on the year.
Yep it is, that’s why it is so damn hard to work out who has what…

I’ll cry.

those chunks of shit don’t look that expensive. I’m sure you could get them cheap.
If you look at the cost of an OEM downpipe, most of the cost is the cats.
I’d hazzard a guess that the OEM logs with the 2.5" mouth is like $400 a set…and used ones from a junker are like $200.
ETKA part # then search the part places for a new price (if you can figure out what part # the good ones are)
