Mangrove to Iphone

How about the fact that you can pickup a call on your computer, or continue making an email on your iphone that you started on your mac, or send text messages from your computer? That’s seamless integration. How about itunes? Everyone on android always brags about android then goes home and opens up itunes and syncs their music. Itunes works awesome with an iphone, you can manage your apps in screen view, add remove music by artistl, title, album, playlist, etc, you can sync photos and videos, and it makes a backup, its an all in one stop, all while you listen to music. Literally everyone and their mothers uses itunes because its the best at what it does. How about the fact that you can send free text messages to anyone with another idevice? or the fact that you can communicate iphone to ipad to ipod to mac in text messages or using a free call service with just an email address and not needing any kind of carrier service?

Apple has it locked down on integration. Can you play videos from your laptop or phone to your Tv directly, wirelessly in HD? because you can with apple. Can you play music from your iphone to your sound system just by pressing a button while you’re cooking in the kitchen?

Sure, you are “locked in” with apple, you can’t customize your fonts to be red or change your carrier logo to be a penis, but honestly who needs that? I can customize my ringtones, my screen my apps, my text size, my password, basically I can customize all that I really NEED to, and it integrates perfectly with all my devices and allows me to move seamlessly from my phone to my laptop to my tv.

I’ll be honest, I don’t really care how many GB’s of ram my phone has, or pixel density, screens nowadays are already so good and they are faster than I need. If I need serious ram to do some real tasks…well isn’t that what a laptop is for?

I didn’t buy an iphone last night, but that sure as hell doesn’t mean i’m going to android, I thought about that last night, what if I just picked up a samsung. Well I have to change my audio system in my car, I can’t watch videos on my tv from my iphone anymore, my laptop and phone won’t link together…I would need to buy like 30 devices to get the same function. feck…that.

Airdrop and Airplay are excellent features that I use around the house. I’m not saying Apple is the only one to offer sharing like this, but it isn’t as easy if you’re on different devices with different operating systems.
Let’s say I’m on my phone or iPad and I find a funny video or a nice home in the area, I’d like my wife to look at it.

I could:
A) Send her the link through text or email
B) Have her come over and huddle with our heads together and view the video or website…gross
C) Hand her the phone/pad to view herself
D) Throw it up on my 55”tv in one click

Same with file sharing and Airdrop. I don’t like everything I own kept on a cloud service, so honestly that is something I don’t use much (iCloud). I do have a drop box, but I also don’t want every single file in my dropbox that I use or edit. So if I have a document/picture/etc that I’d like to edit on the larger screen of my iMac, I just airdrop it right over and it is nearly instantaneous and dummy proof.

I am an Apple fan no doubt, not a diehard, but I’m pretty damn happy with everything I own with their logo. The applications and features that I mentioned are simple to use (my wife is not very computer friendly, so the less things I have to explain step by step the better). I also prefer the simple look of the OS and the software for photo and video editing. Lastly, something I hated and now love are the touch gestures…that feature alone set an Apple computer above the others, I’m sure your have a great comment for that, but I’m just being honest.

In the end I’ll pay the “insane” premium to have these products, because I’m happy with them and that is all that matters. I don’t own multiple Audis because they are cheap and inexpensive to maintain, I own them because of their build quality, their styling, and they make me happy when I drive them.

Euro… So the integration is what again? You can watch a video on your TV? Seriously? That’s it? Everyone can do that with any platform or device.

The stuff mec listed nobody cares about. If they do care about you can do with any device. You just have to actually do it like he had to originally do it . Sounds like he is more saying ‘I’ve set things up this way and I’m committed to Apple’ rather than ‘apple is seamless integration’. If you wanted to set it up and commit to google you certainly could. I could too. I just don’t give a shit about all that stuff you mentioned. Sending s text from my computer? I did that in 2002. Besides who still uses text today? Further why would I need to use my computer if my phone’s lightning fast processor, monster battery and it’s big screen and 3gb of ram are in my pocket?

The problem mec is having is that he thinks people with a Samsung phone hate apple and rail against apple all day. Not at all. I must again remind him that I have thrown out more apple products than he has likely ever owned. I just like my Samsung phone better.

For years people had inferior in almost every way iPhones and fought against what Samsung did. Some of us just embraced the fact that Samsung made a better device. We didn’t need an excuse like these baloney integration excuses to stick with inferior iPhone products… We just bought the better product. What did iPhone people do? They said stupid things like “Samsung phones are too big. I like surfing the Internet and typing on a 2” wide screen better because my thumb can reach across it easier" in order to justify sticking with the apple stuff and the hipster herd in the process.

Ironically, now you’re all going to convert to an apple made Samsung Galaxy Note replica or an apple made Samsung Galaxy S replica. Hilarious I think.

You should have been a priest, you really just need to spread this knowledge to the world.

Lol, oh Saki…you can argue about anything sometimes.

I was just pointing out a few features that I use most. You could do the same, but I could guarantee it isn’t as seemless. I’ve messed with chromecast and other devices and they don’t touch AppleTV. Like I said, you can argue until you blue in the face that any device or operating system has features that are similar, but using those features sometimes takes a little extra effort by the end user to setup.

I’ll also stick to my argument that not everyone wants to do computer worthy tasks on their lightning fast phones.

So you use your phone for everything we stated? or nothing? Can you tell us specifically what we should be using our phones for…it seems like your the only one that unlocks the full potential of a device?

I think you’re getting carried away. You’re overstating the value of your ‘integration’ is all I’m saying. I’m not saying anything about my phone genius.

I use my phone like most people use their phones. Maybe a little more. I make phone calls, send instant messages, send loads of emails, check forums, surf the internet, make loads of photos and videos, analyse my golf swing (V1), listen to music, use GPS golf yardage while I play, play the jumble, do online banking, buy stuff, use it to preview my gopro videos live, run a bird watching app, etc.

At no time do I say ‘I wish I could send a text from that computer over there…’. I just send from my phone.

It’s funny, but lots of the shit you do on your computer or tablet, you do so not because you choose to. You do so because doing do on your iphone is shit.

You keep mentioning that ‘nobody needs a phone that can do these things or has this power…that’s what computers/laptops are for’. That’s absurd. That’s the reason innovation stops. If it’s better to be able to do so on your phone, why wouldn’t you? As I said, you do lots of shit on your computer that, once you get a fast, big screen phone, you will just do on your phone. Your tablets will grow dusty sitting on their perches. Your laptop will have it’s use, but lots of the stuff that is annoying to do on your tiny little iphone is actually a breeze to do, and will be, on your Samsung Note/Galaxy S replica that you buy next. When you do, let me know how it goes. I reckon you’ll love the 6/6+ and its capabilities.

I still don’t get it…maybe I am carried away at this point.
I don’t feel that I overstated it, but it is important to me and my choice to use the iPhone and Apple products.

We will both argue our different points and make sense.

If I’m at the house and would like to increase the size of my TINY iPhone screen to perform whatever task…I will make it 55 inches, not 5.5…55 with just one swipe and click. I can edit pictures, surf the web, throw on a movie. When I’m out and about…when does screen size truly matter?

I don’t ever want a phone with a huge screen so I can do anything…anywhere. I want a phone that fits in my pocket comfortably. The iPhone 5 is sometimes annoying to me to be honest. I don’t like using it in the gym for music and it looks stupid in the front pocket of dress pants if your not wearing a jacket to put it in.

Smart phones screens can only get so big…then they besome tablets/pads. They lose their purpose as a mobile device because they are a pain in the ass to carry around. The decision of a phone screen being too big is truly on the end user.

Why do you think Apple stuck with a “normal” sized iPhone? Because this phablet fad of phones with huge screens will soon be brought back down to size, literally. I think that the phone size will stay right between the size of the regular iPhone and the Note/Galaxy, until the next device that replaces the cell phone altogether is born.

^this exactly. I have the Droid DNA which has a 5" screen quad-core processor, and 2gigs of ram. Not as big as the note, but it does the job. I very rarely use my laptop when I am at home. It’s easier/faster for me to just do it on my phone. Just like right now. As Saki mentioned before, with chrome/Google all of my stuff is there when I eventually log onto my laptop. Search history, passwords, calendar, email, etc. But you can also do that on your Apple stuff by downloading chrome. Which I recommend anyone to do cause safari is horrible.

Whoops I was replying to sakis post

lol so if you want to see something that’s on your phone, you have to put it on your TV? That makes a load of sense. So if your wife is watching MadMen you just politely tell her ‘fuck you, I need to watch this 30 second youtube video’. I guess when you’re waiting for a doctor’s appointment, you just take over their TV? Makes a load of sense. Much easier than having a bigger screen on the phone.

What you’re missing is that apple devotees like yourself were brainwashed that big screens were no good (because Samsung was doing it first). Now you’re clinging to ridiculous reasons for preferring a tiny 2" wide screen (is it even 2"?). Further, you’re WAY off topic. You’re talking about seemless integration being a primary driver for the iphone being superior remember? Well, again…why can’t Android users do what you’re speaking of? THat’s the point. They can. None of the stuff you’re listing:

a) is specific to Apple
b) is really that great an example in the first place, even if it was specific to Apple

first off, you’re making these phones out to be 18" CRT monitors. They’re 5.5"(iphone 6+) to 5.7" (Note3/4) diagonal screens and the phones weigh LESS than your iphone 4 and 5.

second off, you’re making these comments as someone who has never actually had a larger screen phone than the tiny old school iphone screens. You’re saying you don’t like it, that it’s not user friendly, that it doesn’t fit, that it’s uncomfortable, that it’s not portable…and you’ve never had one lol.

Try listening to the people who already have some experience on the matter.

that makes no sense. If they thought it was a fad, why did Tim Cook say this is the most revolutionary Apple product since the first iPhone? Why did they launch it at all, and not just stick to their tiny phone guns? Because they got it wrong, and now they’re waking up.

Millions of people didn’t move to Samsung from Apple by accident. They wanted bigger phones
Millions of people didn’t pre-order their 6/6+ and get one this week by accident (more than any other iphone release…considerably more). They wanted bigger phones.

You’re in the overwhelming minority. Seriously. A tiny tiny minority.

Is anyone else here moving from a small phone to the 6 Plus? I’m very much looking forward to the upgrade. ETA is still mid-October.

I’m thinking about it. Maybe just the 6 though. The 6+ is huge!

On that note has anyone else been hearing about the issue with hipsters and 6+?

Apparently some people wear pants that are so tight that wen they put their phone in their pocket, the phone is actually bending, pretty significantly. I mean it takes some force, but it will bend. Makes sense too I means it’s so thin.

Add that one to the list for android benefits:
Androids will not bend if you stick them in your super right hipster pants (which you stole from your sister, let’s be honest). Hipsters should probably stick to droids

my friend got his last night. Funny, he just went online at midnight the night before, reserved one, and picked it up at 6pm that day.

No lining up for 2 weeks. No nothing.

He got a 6+ and is very happy after having a 4.

Size, camera, speed, LTE…huge upgrade vs. his old 4.

One thing I noticed is that they’ve gone with a very thin, all aluminium shell for the back of the phone. One piece Looks like it will get very dented/creased as time goes on. I can see someone sitting down with their phone in their rear pocket and the flex causing the aluminium to crease. If you’ve ever tried to flatten out a ball of scrunched up aluminium foil, you will know what I am getting at. Not possible.

You’re probably aware of the bending iphone issues? n/m, didn’t read this thread, looks like it’s already being discussed lol

Haha, stop trying to blow my posts out of proportion.

So I have to buy and own an larger screened phone to say I would prefer something smaller…that make no sense.
I’ve held them, I’ve used them, I’ve never owned one…your right, because I don’t want to lug one around.

I’ve never once said the iPhone is superior, I was stating why exactly I own one and own a plethora of Apple products. The funny thing is I would have argued until I was blue in the face 5 years ago how I hated Apple products because of their strict control of applications/software and how their compatibility with other devices sucked. The I switched and will never go back.

Have fun wearing your satchel to hide your phablet in, lol.

Millions of people do things because of fads all the time, to say otherwise is crazy. Phones will not get any bigger than the ones we are referring to, they will stay that size or smaller. So small phone lovers like me will always be happy.

Re mirroring phone screen to TV. It’s very handy. I can leave a $39 Chromecast dongle attached to the TV and stream netflix/youtube/google music to my TV using my phone.

Hmm so this is what android users ask about iPhones.

They actually released a new phone!
