More Air

5 more posts. You can do it.

Ed, Unfortunately the 4 logs you sent me were no good really… 1. just showed 6 data points in regards to transmission cooler values. 2. showed 9 data points including air mass but you didn’t hit turbo or group by and only 1 data point is a high rpm but it does show 13.875 degrees of timing and decent MAF value. 3. blank file 4. blank file… Sorry, nothing really in these…

Ron, sorry, that’s what I thought. I’ll run some more and then cap the inlet, turn off the meth, do it again, same road, same day within minutes of each other. Thanks for your patience.

Any pics on how they did your meth?

I’ll do some today, that’s another adventure!

Ed, No worries man… Keep us posted and let me know if I can help with the logging in anyway…

I know what CFM is…what’s an SCFM?

These cars in stage 2 running low 12s on pump gas are probably moving about 550-600 CFM (if we assume they make around 450 hp…hard to guess). They’re also amazing as far as the shape of the curve goes, so their performance is not entirely top end hp based. Not a steep slope to peak HP…amazingly full.

Turn off the meth for both runs. So that it’s apples to apples testing (with no other variable thrown into the mix). Or do three tests:

  1. Meth and duct
  2. Duct (meth off)
  3. Duct blocked (meth off)

Errr roger, wilco, over and out. I like pretending I’m in a movie!

Standard CFM, i.e. CFM at standard pressure/temperature. My 600 CFM number assumed standard conditions - if you were at a higher DA, CFM would be higher.

I was just trying to get a feel for how much air is going into the engine. 600 CFM is a volume of 2’x2’x2.5’ every second. Kind of interesting that if if the throttle body is 3" (?) the air has to be moving over 200 ft/s - or nearly 140 mph to get that flow rate.

Saki, SCFM is the actual measurement you use in all the quick cfm-hp calculations. Its effectively a mass flow rate and therefore useful in calculations. Consider DA and the effect on power, similar effect with CFM to SCFM (eg 1000 cfm of warm air may only be equivalent to 980 scfm)

nice one, thanks guys. Very cool.

you forgot the real #1 - learn how to log

What benefit does raising the charger off the engine with a spacer provide?

Wow has that AZ thread turned to shit.

Skywagon - I still don’t get it, what are you trying to get from these threads, here and Audizine? Are you looking for advice, or opinions or wtf? Seriously…picking a fight with every guy on the internet isn’t gonna solve your problems.

Just go run your car and let the times speak for themselves. Like we’ve said over and over and over and over

No rocket science here but it likes pulling in air while stationary.

Not too bad. There’s a little proof of concept.

I think this has now been cemented.

I’ll live!
