bad injector and damaged supercharger. good job keeping an eye on all the little things that can get over looked. It has been a mountain of work.
That’s just shows how neglected the car has been by previous owners and it’s really sad to see something special to be treated that way. On a positive note, as I’ve said before, the car is in a good hands now! Refreshing to see a true car enthusiast doing it the right way.
Going back over the thread. Im kinda amazed the car even ran given just how bad some of these things were
Uggh. Tell me about it. Lol. Here’s another in for you.
I got the injector in last night and put it in. Car started and idled like a top. Just perfect. Big relief of course. So now, I’m getting ready to take it for its first drive in forever. But alas…it was not in the cards.
Leaking fuel. Obviously, no good. I rechecked everything and doubled down on the fuel rail being tight, started it back up…still leaking. WTF!
Took it apart and found the culprit.

When they machined the flair you can see it was scarred. Prior to that picture I took, there was a piece of metal imbedded in that caused that scarring. So when the first tightened it on the stainless steel scored the aluminum fitting. No leaks of course because it was all one unit.
The second I took it apart and broke that “seal” it was over. :(. This car I swear is going to be the death of me. Lol
But I’m working my way up. Can get much higher in the engine than the fuel rail. HA
Luckily it’s not that big of a deal as a buddy of mine has a flair tool. So we’re just going to get the flair off and reflair it. Should be easy enough.
And new fittings of course.
OMG at some point you will have just rebuilt the kit from scratch. All together this really will be a fantastic project when its done. Its a fantastic project now. Its great to see you getting everything fixed and looked over.
There can only be so many more things that can go wrong right…Keep up the great work
Update.
I got everything working and running. I’ve put about 300 miles or so on it. She runs great! It feels really good to be driving it again.
BUT, all good things they say…
I took a left turn from a green arrow, nice and easy. I was right next to a cop so I wasn’t going to get on it and BOOM!
I snapped the driver side axel. 3rd gear slight accel and it broke. WTF??
So I need a axel now. I see on JHM’s website they have one for $165.00. Is that one as good as the factory one? I want to do it right but if it’s the same then why not?
Everything else on this car is new… except for the axels. Lol.
Who knows how old these axels are so I’m going to be replacing them at this point.
Which ones do I go with?
Actually, ECS has a few options.

Those seem overly cheap??
Same exact thing happened to me a few months ago. Making a left turn at a fairly slow speed and boom driver side axle went. I replaced my axle with a FEQ axle from ECS. It’s held up great so far
I just placed my order.
After searching on the internet everywhere, I found out that GKN is the factory supplier for the OEM Axel. So I went ahead and ordered the GKN Axel. I’ve spent so much time and money on this car trying to have be OEM+ish that I couldn’t bring myself to go Chinese at this point.
Having said, I did read good things about the FEQ Axels. Sometimes it’s a coin flip either way. Lol
Damn, it just never stops lol +1 for positive attitude! Vids of this beast running are a must
Just updating this as it’s been awhile.
I got the new axel and and all is well there. I’m up to about 500 miles on it ish or so now and drives great.
I’ve got a passenger valve cover gasket leak now. Brand new everything…why, just why!!! LOL
So I went to get replace it last night and that lower passenger bolt…JUST WOW, that bolts’ no joke. HA. I’m currently stuck until I purchase some other stuff. I’m going to go buy a super stubby torx bit and super duper stubby ratchet to see if I can fit that back in there. Any other ideas to get that bolt out?
Beyond that, I’m working on replacing the front end. Previously, there were S6 LED lights hooked up. They looked good from far but the way they were hooked up was just… :(. The lip was missing and the front bumper has been destroyed both by massive rock chips and an insane amount of shitty bondo in unnecessary places.
So, I got new headlights from Axis ( from Audizine ). New OEM fog lights and grills, front lip and undertray. All I have left is the front bumper. I haven’t pulled the trigger on this yet as I still can’t figure out if I weant to go with the Euro or US bumper. The Euro bumper is twice the price!. Not sure on that yet. I should be ordering that in the next couple weeks either way.
Lastly, I’ve got a new head unit going in. While the RNS-E unit looks great, it just doesn’t have a future I need…Apple Car Play. This is a must have for me due to the amount of driving and multi tasking I have to do. So I’ve ordered a new Kenwood head unit.
While I’m at it, I’ve also ordered a front camera and rear backup camera to hook up to the new head unit as well.
So the RNS will be going up for sale soon.
