If you’re talking about his vs my car…I really think it has something to do with the TCU “amax” mode APR is running. Likewise how I’m able to launch at 4k and waste a lot of time getting out of the box spinning, but then when I hook, the engine is far into the power band? Can’t explain it either. I do know that the timing system can show slow traps, including that 97 mph monster I put down
Matt was having the same issues, I think, with the LC. 11.71 best I think?
And he was getting tons of bypass. 10-15%. weird. After mild knock for a second on throttle tip-in, zero knock down the track on the spray /91 gas, on either 100 or 104 tune.
ET is determined primarily by the front of the track.
Mph is determined primarily by the back of the track.
If your car shoots out of the hole and everything is nice, but it steps in to protect the car towards the end of the track, it can wreck your MPH but your et will be pretty close to what it would have been.
I. E. There was one car there that ran 12.3@108 a couple of times and then 12.0-12.2@113-114. It was a conservative beta tune so the protection was pretty aggressive and stepped in because it was on3 of the first cracks at tuning the 3.0t, and the car was from 250 miles away so everyone wanted to start conservative. Ironically the chipdoesn’twork guys would call the tune aggressive because it was pulling timing to protect the car lol. Anyway.
The car was protecting itself so it pulled back on the reigns (probably pulled a bunch of timing) towards the second half of the track (which is basically 4th gear.)
When I looked at his 108 slips I told him that his 1/8 mph was on pace for 114. Sure enough the car trapped 114 a couple passes later. His 330’ times were on pace for 11.9 or so and he later hit 12.0
So it looks like his car’s corrections cost him about 1 to 3 tenths, but a whole 5-6 mph.
Generally we see these cars gain mph and cut et proportionately (tenth for an mph) so you can see how getting out of it, or the car pulling back in the second half won’t mess up your et as much as your mph.
Muneeb, Good stuff bud… Glad to see you beat your best… I’m guessing the car was bypasing a decent chunk of boost which is what’s holding your mph back. However, given Jeff didn’t do as good as he usually does and w/o logs it’s tough to say. Would really like to see logs from your car given what the ones from S4mattys car looked like as he is bypassing boost all the time… My car doesn’t bypass nearly as much as his except the one morning I ran it on the street and IAT’s were in the teens… Just want to see as much data from the multi pulley cars and at this point there aren’t a ton of them… lol What fuel were you running?
Saki, Thanks for sharing the vids!
Mike, I know I’m sounding like a broken record but get rid of the LC and keep AMAX shifting…
Ron, thanks! I was running ms109 that night. Last time I drove the car prior to these runs was also to Milan and I ran ms109 then as well. I’m confident that was the only fuel in the car for these runs.
I will definitely have logs for you and everyone that is interested to review next sunday when I go to Milan again… I have to call ross-tech on monday to get my vcds issues sorted out. Conditions should be even better next sunday so I’m looking forward to it
I’m on the fence about which launch method is better for the facelift cars… Given what Sean@APR has been saying on Az, the facelift cars have some really good hardware in them for launching via LC. Our 2010/11’s have, and I quote “mediocre hardware” for launching lol… That is why mash and go is the better option on early cars. On the flipside, given the better hardware in the facelifts perhaps mash and go will work even better for them? Might be worth experimenting with Mike. I know how much you love going to apr dealers ;D
no problem. I hate when people make vids and don’t show the clocks or at least announce the times so I do it religiously.
Here’s the RS7 against that ‘600 whp’ built 2.7T swapped into a B6 S4. You can take the 2.7T out of a B5, but you can’t take the B5 out of the 2.7T (owner). This was the 2.7T B6 guy’s best run of the night. 14.49 @ 97. Makes ‘600 whp’…traps double digits lol.
Hahaha, saki is the B6 guy. I knew you told me your name but didn’t remember you mentioning your AR name. Good stuff. Yeah, my night sucked. That cheap lines was plugged in the way home and then replaced completely the next day. I went 11.74@118.46 today. DA was around 351ft based on my Dragtime app.
Saki good to meet you buddy. Thanks for bringing back my B6 memories.
Nice to meet you too man, that was one hell of a drive you made. Fun to talk with you before everyone got there. Hopefully you get the trans sorted and get ready for that roll cage you’re gonna need
12.2 @ 118
lots of missed gears or slow gear changes hurting ET/MPH
not an ideal tune for the east coast (it’s his 91 octane west coast at-altitude tune he was running)
all excuses aside, wrists slapped for shit-talking before running a good time (a real internet no-no lol)
