I like visual comparisons, so I thought I’d put up this graph showing the gripping performance of different brake pads under different temperatures. OEM performance is shown on the graph too, for comparison. And yeah it’s worth considering getting some street/track brake pads (example Hawk DTC-30 on graph), which can eat rotors, but they can almost double your OEM stopping power, and street/track brake pads almost double the usual temperature tolerance before they fade out (see graph). If you don’t wanna wear your rotors daily, then you could go one step further and get track brake pads, and just put them on for track days. For example, Hawk DTC-60 race pads double the stopping power of OEM brakes, and more than double your temperature tolerance before fading, BUT they’re dangerously useless until they heat up (see graph), so they’re not a great idea for daily street use.
