has nothing to do with the compression effect of a longer focal length.

Go read about that. It’s pretty cool.

longer lens (longer focal length) will compress things front to back. Wider lens (shorter focal length has the opposite effect. Take a picture of someone with a wide angle lens (like 17mm) , and items close to the front of the lens appear huge compared to things farther away. If you take a portrait using a wide lens, their nose looks huge for example, because it’s closest to the lens.

Use a medium focal length (like say 50mm) and everything looks ‘normal’. Use a longer focal length like say 100mm or 200mm and everything compresses. Makes cars look great though, especially on a slight side angle.

oh man…i’m super jealous of you guys…

lol.

Here’s more of that compression effect I was talking about…using a longer focal length from a bit of a distance creates it.

this is cell1g’s car (I think that’s his username), a great looking B7 S4 (DTM or ESP…not sure if 08 or 07)

good stuff

someone suggested the pattern that appears to be an ‘A’ on the hood when the engine warms and melts it is deliberate.

I didnt even notice that in the pic.

I hope that it is deliberate cause thats just cool

Very nice!

If only all turds were so shiny and nice. I’d hate my mother in law’s dogs a lot less that’s for sure…

Quick shot of mine in the Borgata parking garage. Notice the nice big JHM LW rotors in the front

Since you guys are always giving me crap for my “fake TI wheels” every drag strip outing I decided to finally give her a good wash and wax before winter.

Here’s an old shot pre-lowering:

and here’s one before washing with my lovely coated rims:

Yes, I decided to do it with an old shop towel and my hands.

After. Some nasty curb rash on there but it wasn’t my fault :). Also missed a few spots but I couldn’t be bothered since it’ll be powdered up again in a week anyways ;D

Never had a chance to get a proper after shot because it was already dark by the time I was finished.

Good stuff

Looks great. The silver wheels grow an inch when washed.

Beauty! Similar thing happens with the Avus for sure

Here is a different view of our cars. Having some work done, it is amazing how Audi shoehorned the engine in to this car!

tts blower? nice

Looks like it. Sweet, tell us more Sobe.

Edit - I just read his signature, lol, TTS nlower indeed. Details please. Where are you located?

Pardon the late reply to questions. Located in South Florida. I’ve been working on the TTS S/C project since July and it has been fun and certainly a challenge. The OEM guys did not make this easy. Sort of like peeling an onion. I don’t have any data to share because we are in the process of evaluating different options during our trial tests. Right now my RS4 has some serious anger management issues and they must be resolved. :-X
