Picking a new clutch

Same here. I got the 1R shortly after they came out but was a little let down since I wanted the 3R but they wouldn’t sell them at the time.

I’ve had mine over a year and am nearing 30k miles on it…S4 tho. We’ll see how well it hold up once I start to launch the cars with headers

I ordered the 5R and used the difference in price to grab a new slave.

My reasons are:

  1. I am the only one who drives the car ( I have a daily and a work vehicle)
  2. I pretty much only race and beat on this car
  3. It will handle the power as my car grows
  4. Jim made me feel a lot more comfortable about the 6 puck setup as he has no issues daily driving it with the same performance level I am at now.
  5. I save $100 over the 3R which allowed me to buy other parts to freshen up the clutch system (slave and I have a new master)

I appreciate the feedback from everyone thank you for taking the time to respond to my post!

Why is the 3r more expensive than the 5r?

Also what is the big difference between the 1r and 3r

Technically more material in the 3R compared to the 5R would be my guess, the 3R is kind of a “hybrid” considering the material it’s made from.

In 8 years of driving manual Audi’s this is my first experience with a pucked clutch. Although it did take a little bit of time to get used to its nothing a decently skilled driver shouldn’t be able to handle.

Nobody is going to admit to being anything but LMAO
