Question to guys with a tune

I’m going -3.0 camber this season. I think there is a world where my B8 could break 1:39:59. Might require Trofeo R.

I wouldnt argue that. Still my post wasnt to cast doubt but to explain why there is doubt.

our list just has B8 (doesn’t differentiate) so don’t search for B8.5. Anyway B8.5 is just a forum thing. Really it should be 8K.

The fastest stock manuals…

WTF 12.69 @108+ did I read that right?
STOCK? WHAT?
With tail wind and gutted interior? What’s going on with that run, do you know?
That’s some insane driving and hacks!!!

There’s a new tune on the block from 034, they’re looking for beta cars:

Yes, you read it right… Amazing what a great track, da and driver can do… It’s a legit time…

Isn’t that a Palm Beach time?

Yes, with a -400ish DA…

LOL so I did a tune in the end.
Went with GIAC (thanks all for your input). It is has wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy better throttle mapping than unitronic.
Feels like stock - only very mildly more responsive.

More to come later. Will do some 1/4 runs in the spring.
For now, power is more immediate. Less pedal pressure returns more power compared with stock. The 7k redline actually means something - the power doesn’t die off at 5k rpm like it did when stock. 3rd gear hard accels from 2k rpm’s have substantially more butt dyno feeling. Much more available 6th gear passing power. Breathe on the pedal and the car squirts forward.

Traction was limited today though, so no real low gear pulls were done. I’m satisfied though. The car did not feel anything like this on the stock tune.

Thank goodness you came to your senses. 93 tune?

I remember you saying you thought GIAC had a not smooth pedal transition from what you read on AZ. That reason alone is why most guys come here for advice. With people trying to push cheap signal interupters are tunes and other random companys trying to sell unproven tunes by saying how fast they should be. Thats not really an envirement that is too concerned about what is really best for the community.

As said in another thread. It makes no real sense why someone would stray away from APR or GIAC. On AZ you get a lot of people who dont know what they dont know posting like they know everything. The simple fact is. Proof and proven power over time has been shown in GIAC and APR. When other comapnys start testing and doing long term testing then maybe you can open up the list of companys to think about. great to hear you are happy with the tune and that you went in the right direction

034 was selling me hard on their tune. I think I’d only do it if we developed a map specifically for the 1.7L blower with my car as the development car. My concern with that blower is my power band is perfectly linear now.

Do you live under a rock?

I heard APR blows motors. These guys would guarantee it.

I would bet on the 034 Motorsports tune being better than APR or Giac. Their stage 1 race gas tune is pretty impressive already.

034 guarantees they will blow your motor? Or they guarantee APR will?

I think they did a motor replacement for an RS4 customer with the 1740 kit (meem).

The reason he is asking if you live under a rock is because the 1740 kit has been shown to not add very much on the B8 S4. If you lived under a rock you might have missed that. So answer the question. Do you live under a rock?

Does anyone have a dyno plot? I want to see the power curve. I think it needs some more software development to get the most out of it.

LOL at the divergence of the conversation.
I’m with you guys on the 034 tune. That’d be the top of the list for me, but short of driving my car over (or shipping my ecu or something), I wouldn’t be able to get it. The numbers they are putting down for the 1/4 are insane though. I’m very interested in how it will all pan out.

FWIW Saki, I have the GIAC “pump” tune. I emailed them and they only have a pump tune now? Is this new?
Anyway, even their website shows this. So it is a 91 tune unfortunately. Whatever, it really woke up the car though and I am satisfied. The numbers will tell when I hit a drag strip in the spring to see what it does. Also, top speed on the back straight of the tracks I frequent will be a big indicator. I dont know why my car is so slow, but I’m only doing about 210kph at the back straight of mosport. My friend in a B8 (i have a b8.5) does 217. And we compared our telemetry - I am exiting the corner leading to the straight 10kph faster than him AND am braking later than him. So it isn’t my driving. Dafuq??? Anyway, if I get around 220k on that back straight, I’d be mind blown. That’s close to what the Boss302 was doing (though I was driving that car more conservatively).

Wrong website

You can run 93 (some esso stations) or 94 petro and the car will respond to the octane.
