Helping a buddy out with some exhaust work. He’s got a full APR on his B6 right now and is having all sorts of trouble getting the car smoged here in Cali. I have some stock downpipes that we can slap on for him to get him legal, but have a question about fitment. Anyone know if stock DP’s will mate up to an APR Cat-back or if I will need adapters?

Pretty positive it will. APR’s catback was made to mate up to stock DP’s, and their catback is 2.25" anyways. So as long as it wasn’t modified, it should be a pretty easy swap.
Yeah that’s the funny thing. I’m seeing conflicting info as to the size of their cat-back. Some places it says it’s 2.25 and others 2.5. The APR site shows 2.5 now, but maybe it used to be 2.25??

I know for a fact it used to be 2.25", and there was a little while they claimed 2.5" but it was still actually 2.25". But they may have changed it to 2.5" at this point in time. It’d kidna surprise me as they never really made a public announcement (that I remember) that they had changed the diameter from .25 to .5" like Millitek just did.
If your buddy bought the exhaust more than a year or two ago, I can say with almost certainty that it’s 2.25" and you should be fine. If nothing else, an exhaust shop wouldn’t’ charge much for a little adapter being made.

Well that’s what I’m saying. If it’s an older exhaust from APR, I was almost positive it was 2.25", b/c they were afraid of drone. They might be 2.5" now, but I wasn’t sure. And for a while there I think they had listed 2.5" on their website, but must have still had some 2.25" in inventory or something b/c I recall a couple people talking about how they advertised one thing but had another.
I had a set that i purchased from superavant… they were 2.25 with pre-cat… they were ok… i since then swapped to trex’s dps…
Update… did the job yesterday and for sure, the AWE that he has on there is 2.25. But man what a fucker of a job…turns out that who ever put the DP’s on last, bent the upper corner manifold bolt somehow on the drivers side. So, I had to widen the bolt hole on the DP flange a little so it would slip over. That took a few tries since I didn’t want to make too big. >:(
