Quitting

COngrats! Smart choice. Last week we sent a 53 year old man home form the ICU on hospice due to end stage COPD. He could barely get his o2 sats up on 20 Liters of o2. His wife was 50 but looked 65.

I smoked for 6 years when I decided to quit. What I did was quit cold turkey for about 4 months, then eased it was dip (pouches lol) for about 2 months then now I use an E-Cig to calm my late night cravings lol.

I still have a real cig once in a while with my buddies but I refuse to ever purchase a pack again.

Not always the case, but in my personal experience the occasional cig with friends was one of the worst things I could do, every time I did this it ignited a passion for smoking in me, I am truly an addict and can’t stop at one, no matter the cost

Thanks everyone for sharing.

Yeah, I have all my vape paraphernalia and lots of juice from last year, but I’m scared to start that since I’m pretty sure I’d still want a smoke after a vape (that’s what happened last year). I’m pretty sure I’d have the same fate as EYEspi if I ever smoked one again. 21 years smoking, I’m 38.

I’m still indulging myself today with whatever else I want asides from smoking. Good thing I’m only a social drinker. Ill update the thread as I keep going, lol.

. Sorry Bruno.

So the update is you have not caved!?

Yes, that’s right, so far…not since yesterday morning.

I had to walk past a couple smokers at work, had a deep breath of second hand smoke and hung around a minute talking to a couple guys. One said, “jspazz, you’ll always be a smoker, remember.” Yeah, I agree, at least right now.

Anyway it’s the longest I’ve gone without, since I started.

You a coffee drinker? I know if I ever tackle quitting, I will need to stop drinking coffee too. Hand in hand for me. Sucks.

Good for you and keep it up. Get a punching bag, do pushups, jog around the block. Whatever it takes!

Yeah Sak I used to be a social poster here too, only posting when there was some event, look how addiction just sorta happens…

This gum is awesome, the packaging is totally geared towards smokers. Sorta helps.

your desk is too clean

LOL I started cleaning my desk as soon as I saw the picture, mine looks like a bomb went off in comparison

My office is usually spotless by the end of the day…

But you should see my garage…bomb is an understatement. You won’t see any pictures of that.

I smoked for about 10 years and tried many times to quit (unsuccessfully).
Then my mom got sick from cancer (she smoked for 40 years) and on her death bed, I promised her I would quit. I haven’t touched a cigarette since (23 years now).

Good luck dude and stay with it.
BTW, you’re health gets back to normal (i.e. lung, heart and chances of getting cancer) about 10 years after quitting - it’s never too late to quit.

You guys need some daylight. I need a stitch app. And a cable hider.

This GIF has my office and touches upon smoking.

The reality is my office looks more like this and I definitely don’t see any daylight during the day. I miss the old Victorian OR’s of England and their big windows.

Plenty of sunshine here. Though my walls are a bit empty at the moment.
