i had a buddy have a zip disk go right through a full face shield and hit him right in the bridge of his nose about 2 weeks after having surgery to fix a deviated septum. zip discs still scare me today and I use them daily.
wow that’s a nasty one. hes lucky the piece that hit his eyebrow wasn’t an inch to the right.
Some people buy cheap discs too, which can lead to bad situations like this.
Incidents like this also happen when you force a disc too much and heat it up or use a disc that is worn and should have been tossed.
Scarry stuff. I still get a little worried when I use disks. I had a few chunk off on me. They are very effective but very dangerous.
I used to work at a place that had 3 70’s vintage Mid-West 250hp Billet Grinders, basically an older version of the one below. Had a couple of grinding wheels let go on those, fun stuff being in range of the shrapnel from that (they explode into chunks)
we used to grind Ti with them, which was badass to watch since the Ti burns

Speaking of, the full name of the magazine is Charlie Hebdo which is short for Hebdomadaire which means Weekly. It is shortened to Charlie Hebdo.
Best part is the ignorant american news people calling the magazine ‘hebdo’…as if that’s the name.
I think it’s partly because they’re both named Charlie. But also because it was in retaliation for being “picked on” which is what happens to Charlie Brown all of the time.
