oh wow. Would insurance cover that? Because that’s the only reason I can see for taking an S8 out on a ‘frozen’ lake on a 12 celsius (54 fahrenheit) day…to hope your car gets written off for an insurance settlement.

Of course you might also kill yourself in the process so I am thinking the driver just didn’t think this through very well. Incredible.

Looks like he left the windows open for easy escape. I smell insurance fraud.

OR he put the windows down to escape. Either way, what an idiot. If you read the article it sounds like insurance wouldn’t cover this anyways

you mean looks like he and his passenger climbed out the windows. They’ve already fled the car. They took the photo from shore.

the most ironic part of that is this:
Barrie 411 posted the above photo to Facebook Monday. It quickly went viral, racking up more than 4,200 shares.

“I was fishing on lake Simcoe, off Keswick last weekend it was above zero, there was almost 6” of water sitting on top of the ice," Leo Martin said on Facebook.

“… I have no idea how someone could think to drive on that … Especially after the warm week we had.”
So the guy interviewed seems smart enough to realise you shouldn’t drive on that…but dumb enough to risk his life by walking/snowmobiling out to a spot to ice fish. WTF.

Kind of a corny concept, but the 911R looks really cool. Too bad only the 918 owners will be driving these, or they will be selling them to folks without a 918 at a premium.

Current wealthy porsche aficionados are going something like this 991 GTS -> 991 GT3 -> 991 GT3 RS -> Wonder if the rich people who still like to shift will be trading (up?) to the 911R. It is the GT3 RS motor with a manual trans, a little less aero but lightest 911 overall…if money were no object, right?

Three things about that

 1. Sound alike shit even though that is as good as a 911 can sound
 2. Do we need more 911 versions?
 3. How long till westwest888 complains that he wasn’t offered one? What with him being a baller base model boxster owner and all

Wouldn’t the electronics on the car stop working after the car was submerged? I don’t know enough about driving into lakes, but just venturing a guess lol. Either way, very fishy. No pun intended.

LMAO!!

I like v8 and v10s just as much as you. But I’ll admit a 3.8 or 4.0 NA from porsche still sounds very good, especially in person and with pse or aftermarket sport exhaust

I will say this will never happen but a 3.9 v8 sandwiched in a 911 would be cool.

Although porsche will probably do the opposite and do a 2 door hatch based on panamera and call it a next Gen 928. Would consider it actually!
