Rare Cars

Slow day on AR today.

Thought I would ask the question. What is the rarest car you have seen on the road not at a show or dealer.

The other day out the front of work (BMW Dealer) was parked a Ferrari 599 GTO (Sorry for the crappy iPhone pic)

Its not every day that you can see something like this on the road especially here is Aus

I have seen other rare one like a carrera GT and a Koenigsegg CCX (which I have sat in) but both were at motor shows.

I was going to say Bugatti Veyron as the rarest car I’ve seen on the road, but I’d maybe have to say Ferrari 288 GTO. Considering it was limited production almost 30 years ago, and considering there are hardly any in Canada, it would be the one.

I have seen just about everything living in downtown Chicago, plus there are a number of pro athletes living in my neighborhood who love exotic cars so it can get a little difficult. The past few times I stayed at Pebble Beach it was always the week before or after their annual car show so I don’t know if those count.

It’s a toss up between an old Rolls Royce Silver Ghost or a Duesenburg something, something. I’m a car guy, but I haven’t really followed any cars that were pre 50s as much. Although I did get caught off guard when I saw an R34 Skyline GTR cruising down the highway in the middle of winter. They are rare enough in the states, let alone the midwest but why the hell would you drive it when it was snowing??

Strangely I see about 2-3 JDM skylines on the regular around home. Popular car in the Toronto suburbs for some reason.

All right hand drive

that reminds me…whatever happened with that insane right hand drive Nogaro S4 conversion in Chicago land? JDMDon or something weird.

Damn, we aren’t so lucky with Skylines down here. After the great debacle a couple years back when they repo’d most of the skylines due to being illegally imported it’s almost impossible to find them anymore.

As for that blue S4, I like to think of it like bigfoot. More legend, then reality, but who knows I could be wrong.

Damn, I would love to see a veyron.

I am like you game breaker, love my cars but never really into the 50’s stuff. In saying that going and seeing Peeble Beach Concors would be amazing.

That right hand drive conversion is now going to be a LS(something) swap with RWD. So dropping the 4.2 and quattro. What the hell was the point of buying a B6 then.

I just saw a pearl white merc slr on the A81 just outside of Stuttgart. I have also been lucky enough to take a few hot laps in a F40 LM (passenger).

Picsorban…

lout and Lout Jnr - relates?

I would love to have gone for a ride in an F40 LM. I have liked the newer ones, but something about the F40s just set’s it apart. It had a track feel with just enough crazy in it. I almost feel like most of the cars since then have been too refined.

Saki, where on earth (in Canada?) did you see a Veyron?

As for me … I was fortunate enough to have a ride in a Lamborghini Countach a number of years ago. You may be saying wait a sec…those aren’t THAT rare but only 2062 were produced. From 1974 to 1989. That’s rare. And I’ll tell you one thing, Anne Hathaway riding a unicycle nude through the middle of town will not garner as much attention as pulling through in that car. Even today.

And I’ve seen an Ariel Atom.

It was a mistake on my part to ever get in the car. Now nothing I could ever buy or rent could match that. It’s a nasty car.

Would love to sit in a countach. Would love to drive one too! Pretty much my favorite Lamborghini.

And yes we’re brothers

A few snaps from my walk into work in Toronto when Gumball was in town last year:

Being in the medical field, this one caught my eye:

I have seen quite a few cars in my travels, but the most memorable are -

  • White Lamborghini Countach in Scottsdale, Arizona
  • Yellow Lamborghini Diablo VT in Ft. Lauderdale, FL
  • White Mitsubishi Evo 3 in CT
  • And the rearest - White Nissan Skyline GTS (rwd, single turbo)

A few years (06) ago I was out at a dirt lap dash event and someone turned up with a Lancia Stratos. The only one in OZ.

holy shit those are rare.

So I’ve a couple if cars here. No pics unfortunately and none on the freeway either

This morning in the way to work a nice white maserati quatroporte with black rims. Sounds nice!

And last night saw a large 2 door coupe also in white. Couldn’t quite make out the manufacturer but the badge on the back said Ssomething. No idea what that could be!!

Bloody iPhone cameras take too long to startup
