There is some real proof for you.
I’m sold. It’s on.
LOL
it’s really simple with the B67 4.2 cars. This is one purchase you won’t be able to second guess.
To further expand on this 2 local guys had giac tuned B67 S4s and back in the day I had JHM tune and full jhm exhaust in my 2007 S4 (sold in 2011). They were always talking shit and saying I was too pro JHM and THAT naturally aspirated tunes don’t do too much so there’s no difference.
So we put it to the test.
I raced the first guy from a 40 mph roll. He had GIAC tune, awe downpipes and awe catback, as well as lightweight wheels.
I had JHM tune, jhm downpipes and jhm catback as well as lw front rotors.
Even modlist, right?
We started off in 2nd at 40 mph. On the third Honk we went, and by 60 mph when I shifted into 3rd I had a car on him. By the time I shifted into 4th at 90mph, he was 3.5 cars back. Once I accelerated a bit in 4th it was ridiculous so I stopped. Afterwards at the meet he was dumbfounded. I asked the other giac + stasis exhaust guy if he wanted to do a pull on the way home, and he politely declined.
At the dragstrip bangoman and his bone stock B6 s4, and I with the same mods above, dis a comparison.
Bangoman 13.8 @ 102
Sakimano 12.9 @ 107
That gap indicates I had a 50hp advantage on him. That gap is also 8 or 9 car lengths at the drag strip (15 feet per tenth of a second at the finish line). That gap is also about 4-5 car lengths in a highway pull.
Remember what I beat the giac + awe guy by in a highway pull? 5+ car lengths. He was no faster than stock.
I have logged 6 different giac / Awe b67 s4s. None of them were any faster than stock.
Great info here. Not to beat a dead horse but JHM is the ONLY company putting out products that actually work on our cars. So please do your homework before you regret buying something that doesn’t do a damn thing for you. (such as a GIAC tune)
It must sound crazy for the new guys…they must think JHM has nude photos they are blackmailing everyone with. But, it’s super simple.
ALL audi tuning companies (Apr, giac, unitronic, revo, abt etc) cut their teeth tuning turbo cars where a simple boost request and timing adjustment netted you 10-15%
Faced with tuning an NA V8 with stock timing parameters that were beyond what they’d ever seen on a turbo car, most of them shit themselves.
The tunes sucked, and to top it off they were paired with exhausts that did nothing to help the NA car breathe better.
All in all they were flummoxed. But their dynos looked great!
Fortunately JHM came along with a background in NA V8 tuning and turned the place upside down. The best part was they ignored the dyno for marketing and used the 1/4 mile instead, a performance benchmark accepted as the standard measure of what parts work everywhere BUT the Audi community.
Does anyone have a JHM APR Cheetah Cable that they would loan me? I’m a reliable guy, and will cover the shipping costs.
I have a cable. I’d require a deposit, which I’d refund once the cable is returned. You’d pay shipping both ways.
Datadatum - That’s a fair deal. I’ll PM you to get it rolling.
Do I need to buy any gaskets to replace at the same time? I’m planning to piggie the DPs and install the catback this weekend and trying to make sure I have everything I need ahead of time. Already picked up O2 spacers and an O2 wrench for the time until I do the JHM tune.
