So, I have an RS4 with symphony II+ and I recently bought a 2010+ LED RNSe. 8P unit but with 8E faceplate etc.
I have apparently got BOSE (says BOSE on the speakers)
I installed it and all the DIYs I found including the one posted here by neverfollow said nthat if I had BOSE I would have to move a wire from B5 (Bose wire) to B7 in the blue connector…then I would need to move the C7 wire from the green connector over to the newly vacated B5 slot. Sounds good right…
Well when I pulled out the little B and C connectors, I noticed that my B (blue) didnèt have anything in B5. No brown wire in B5. So I just moved the C7 wire over to B5, and sparked it up. Everything works (although both before and after the C7 to B5 swap, the volume level is off…turning it 2 mm raises volume to very high levels. I assumed this would be because of the need to VAGCOM as the car does not know what head unit is now in there and assumes it is still symphony II+
When I tried to connect vagcom, I got an error on test (failed self test)
specifically…
port status ok
interface found
failed self test
K1 OK
K2 OK
when I select a control module I get a variety of errors and possible reasons, including k line stuck
I assume the swap over caused a problem…I just do not know where to go from here.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
here’s the error image. Same error when I swap the green formerly C7 wire back over to C7.
