RS running hotter than it used to

Oil temp used to run at 95C all the time, any time of year, any outdoor temp, unless running in traffic…
Now it runs b/w 100 and 110. In traffic it will go above that a little.
Carbon clean done at about 40,000km. Now at 83,00km. Intermittant very minor oil leak at connection to front oil cooler. No CEL or other issues.
Suggestions on what might be going on?

Clogged oil cooler. Since is has a leak right there it’s collecting a lot of dirt then. Take off oil cooler clean it out or get a new one fix the leak and go on ur way again.

JHM came out with new oil cooler lines for rs4 kinda pricey but still worth it in my http://jhmotorsports.com/shop/catalog/jhm-oil-cooler-line-upgrade-and-12an-conversion-kit-for-b7-rs4-p-1754.html?cPath=21_56_310_313

There’s a set of louvers that open while moving to allow airflow, and close when the fan(s) are on to force air through the cowling. It’s tough to see them all not being able to move, as they’re independent, but see if you’ve got some leaves or crap obstructing the radiator and/or oil cooler… Do you temps change at all with the a/c on/off?

Its all pretty clean in there, and the A/C doesn’t change it.
I tried to have Audi warranty my oil cooler, but the shit extended warranty I purchased doesn’t cover it, and its a $2200.00 job at the dealer.

Lol got screwed on that extended warranty. They screwed me over too. So don’t feel too bad haha.

what warranty did you buy?

Hmm…I’ve been between 99-105 since the day I bought it 09/2012. I’m gathering this is not normal.

not normal for typical RS4 owners (those who like to drive it spiritedly for long stretches)

Also, if your oil temp is 99 when you start it up, you should worry!

When I’m taking it easy, my oil is high 80s low 90s.
When I’m getting on it on a warm day, low 100s
When I’m blasting it for extended periods, 110s.

I bought the warranty sold by the Audi dealership, but only the sterling. I told the sales manager I wanted the warranty to cover any mechanical big ticket items, and he said it would. I later found out that there is even a $4000.00 cap on claims. Total rip off. The gold covers all mechanical stuff, and platinum (which I told I couldn’t purchase because the factory warranty was out) covers bumper to bumper. I would like to just pay them the balance for the gold, have them cover the oil cooler repair, and I can continue with the gold till it runs out in Nov 2014. I would be happy with better coverage, I would have my oil cooler fixed, and barring other claims, they wouldn’ t lose a thing.

Sorry to resurrect this, but if the lines are plugged to the oil cooler, does that stop proper oil circulation, or is there a bypass? I am not entirely sure how that system works.

that sucks . I found that when looking at warranty terns. Lots of them have a maximum.

The one I bought for the B8 a maximum lifetime cap of the market value of the car when we bought it.

Ensurall. They seem pretty decent.
