catch cans are dead.
back to the carbonator!
personally I’m not so sure how bad carbon is for my car. I have 29,000 miles, and ran 12.94.
either
a) my car was carbon cleaned before I got it (no record of this)
b) carbon isn’t that big of a deal at 29,000 miles on a new car
c) my car could have run 12.7-12.8 if it was carbon clean
Either way, the performance part isn’t my biggest carbon concern. It’s a chunk of carbon getting through into a cylinder, and wedging itself up between a piston and a cylinder wall, scoring it to fuck and ruining the motor.
This has happened to at least 3 RS4s (BenSTi, the guy in Europe and the guy in Australia with the cab). That sucks.
So, we can take the carbon vs. power argument and shove it in a drawer…the far more serious issue is carbon vs. killing-your-engine, and for that reason I’ll be one of the first guys to raise my hand when a carbonator is available.
