also…anyone else know who compugeek5150 is yet? It’s funny that he’s ‘new’ to the scene…but he’s not new to the scene. Maybe he’ll tell us his other name.
meeeow! Put the handbags down ladies and get it back on topic!
Anyway another catback option i came across, i drop them an email and see if they have sedan variants:
If i can sell my Milltek ill try get a JHM system if It will 100% fit the RHD versions and i dont get raped on shipping and import tax, failing that ill get one made up locally, there is a exhaust shop locally that are banging out some qulaity systems lately
Lol. I’ve used this handle for a very very long time. Probably not hard to figure out who I am. I’ll take the “not new to the scene” as a compliment.
Honestly, the brutal honesty and lack of sponsorship I appreciate. The ad hominem I loath. It shows weakness of character.
Hilarious lol
Well then you need to take a step back and read your posts. and do some reflecting.
For one. while you might have one perspective that perspective is welcome but keep in mind that others offer you a new perspective that is from there experience.
for example. Supersprint. You mentiond that because they did well in other platforms and that they have good welds they should be good in audi as well… I paraphrased a bit but to my point. Well in the Audi world Supersprint has a history of not doing so well. Poor quality poor fitment and smaller sized pipe lots of critical reviews in the past followed by poor performance of there systems lead supersprint to remove several Audi systems from the market.
Then there was the dyno joke on the RS4. Supersprint tried to get in on the RS4 craze by making headers for the RS4… not sure why they would have done that as the RS4 has a tri Y system but anyway. Supersprint made huge claims on the headers saying they added some very respectible numbers… They put this on there web site and tryed to push them on the forums… Only to have a RS4 guy buy them and test them… The results were a gain of 3hp… On any dyno thats a swing you can get just from weather. Im not a huge dyno guy as I used to run a dyno years ago so I know the limits but the next thing to test is acceleration. And when that flopped people started to call in to question supersprint. After that point supersprint kinda went dead in the audi markets and they dropped there exhaust system prices by 1000 dollars…
Milltek kinda had the same thing. Milltek marked up the 4.2 exhaust by 500 dollars and called it a V10 exhaust. Milltek over the years makes some nice exhaust systems but its the same size as stock and basically people are paying for different mufflers with a X pipe. Milltek is more respected but its also known as an over priced exhaust that has been shown to not perform. Milltek second owners when they get the exhaust for free usually have the truest reviews.
Lastly and I took offence to this. The Dickswinging comment or the fanboi… I personally dont buy that your new to the market because some of the stuff you say on this is trollish and honestly makes no sense. Sakimano makes a few posts trying to share what you wouldnt know if you were new to this platform and the audi forums all together and your comments make it look like he made 50 posts about the same thing
But to me someone excited about the fact that there are one more more people that have bought the V10 car strictly for development and have done just that is something that should be talked about and cheered. Maybe you didnt know but just a year ago your V10 was destended to be a 14 second car where your options for performance were the same size as stock milltek exhaust and the APR tune that net ZERO gains. So you can spend over 2500 dollars and be almost no faster than stock.
But due to JHM CV V8A6 and some others The V10 has some real respectable performance behind it along with parts testing and tech support. So if I or others pay hommage to that and cheer that… it comes off odd that you call that proping up or fanboi… Fact of the matter is you would think you would ask sakimano for more information on what JHM CV and others have done to help get a better perspective on why what they and the people they support is so worth there excitment. But then again you would do that if you were … NEW to the platform… Or thats my take on it…
Lastly to put this to bed. This isnt every other forum. People here are passionate and honest. No body here is getting paid to post what they do and all of the guys really trying to give perspective have seen people getting ripped off or taken advantage of over the years… If you go into different sections you will see people cheering APR and GIAC if you go into others you will see people talking aboud and cheering JHM and others. Excitement backed by performance and people talk about it to try and help stop people form repeating the same mistakes that have been made in the past. I dont call that fanboi or dickswinging I call that someone that cares and wants people to know where the excitement is comming from…
Thats my .02
valid points - but looking through just this forum, saki’s got a way of just shitting on people’s posts. It’s not “brutally honest” it’s using ad hominem to prove a point that’s backed up by fact. It’s unnecessary.
I actually researched before deciding on this platform. I read the entirety of the infodump probably 3 times before even buying. I’m new but well read I suppose. I read through the whole ridiculous attack on CV’s creds. I’ve read through several of your own posts where people have directly attacked you and you responded calmly.
I guess I don’t have that patience. Nothing I’ve posted justifies an attack.
I agree with the consensus and have put my money down in support. I haven’t used words to support my opinions, but dollars. And not an insignificant amount. I don’t call a companies’ products crap because I don’t like them; I give opinions based on my direct experience of them. I don’t regurgitate opinions even from people I hold in high regard unless I have direct experience. That doesn’t seem to be the case with saki. Everything he’s posted in this topic is an opinion or fact that was given to him by someone else it seems like; hence the dick swinging cheerleader comments. I’m pretty sure he’s a cool guy I’d enjoy having a beer with and talking cars, but direct insults under the guise of “brutally honest”, just doesn’t fly.
I’ve got a miltek and the only reason I bought it was because the previous owner had just deleted the rear mufflers and I wasn’t keen on the sound. would be either whisper quiet or crazy loud. Yes the miltek doesn’t add performance but it does sound good and JHM didn’t offer their exhaust at time of purchase (I had their system on my S4 Avant with Miltek Test pipes). If I keep the car any longer I’d like to gut the cats and then get 2.75" pipes reusing the miltek back boxes then get some generic cats further down stream I can put on for the MOT (or go to my friendly test centre). But day to day driving probably won’t see the benefit of the 2.75" sat in traffic. If the JHM system was available at the time would have bought it in a heart beat!
Also when I bought the miltek I asked about the diameter and said I thought it was too small and would really like the diameter to be bigger and was told miltek design the system that diameter to stop drone… :
I also have the milltek cat back non resonated. I do like it but want louder, its a nice quality kit, but is same diameter as stock, which for most people, is just fine.
I bought it used so there was some money saved there. I’d like to get the JHM catback in the new year when bonus time hits, lol.
