S6 EXHAUST THREAD

Know what would be cool? Editing the OP with every single video that gets added to the thread. i.e. everytime one gets added, add it to the OP with a description

Speaking of…what is your exact exhaust setup?

this is what I mean for the original post of the thread:

View My Video
stock headers and downpipes (catted), Magnaflow catback (or whatever)

^^ I’d have to edit it each time, given the OP’s post count.

you could edit in a post from say V8A6 who would have unlimited edit ability.

Looking forward to hearing more

4 Resonators removed

removed my magnaflow mufflers

added x pipe.

i dont know how to edit the subject sorry but i have different videos of different mods on my exhaust, this weekend i post them all.

A few questions, if anyone can answer, as they pertain to exhaust for the S6 (I’m figure this is probably generally the same for all cars, but I don’t know for sure)

  1. What are the advantages/disadvantages of an X-Pipe and how does it work?

  2. What are the advantages/disadvantages of removing resonators?

  3. What are the advantages/disadvantages of a muffler delete?

I think there are a few good threads on this but the exhaust is the most impornant part of the NA car. I have seen some good gains on the local 5.2 V10 cars that have gotten a performance exhaust made by a fab shop here.

The X is very impornant for the collection and pulse control. But you need to be careful. All X sections are not equal on top of that where you place the X is very impornant.

The resonators can be removed without any issue. This is what most people do. Some people dont like the sound of the stock mufflers with too much flow

The muffler removal is a cheap mod but what generally happens is people get the mufflers removed but that also removes the hangers for the exhaust at that point. That causes issues with the exhaust placement

Did you ever post these other videos? Are there other links.
The posted video above is no mufflers and x-pipe? Which x-pipe did you go with? Nice !

I put the resonated sections back intomy Milltek its so much quieter now in the cabin, almost two quiet! Still sounds nice from the outside, ill give them a few weeks but i think the resonators will have to come back out in a few weeks! Im sure my neighbors appreciate it though!

See how after each pull it made more power. Getting intake spacers will help with gettig the car to keep power. The follow up runs made more power due to the intake temp dropping and the car cooling down from pulling in air

Thats the thing that sucks about milltek on the 4.2 as well. Its eaither too loud or too quiet. The car sounded good in the one video tho

I actually really like mine, if anything I wouldn’t mind if it was even louder. The low rumble driving on the highway doesn’t bother me a bit, and I can’t really hear it unless I’m accelerating. At full throttle it sounds like a freakin’ formula1 car. I love it, I just wish they made the pipes bigger.

Thats what Im saying. It could be a little louder… Pipe size is the one thing that has kept lots of people from getting the milltek is that its basically the same size as stock

Right, noise doesn’t always equate to power and vice versa. Gotta find the right middle ground

My car came with a free Milltek non-resonated setup (the dealer I bought it from had no idea it had it), so I can’t complain. Would I have paid $2000 for it? No. But for free, I’ll take it

Yes im in the same boat, the Milltek came with mine from previous owner, with both resonated and non-resonated section so i cant complain, its definetly an improvement over stock. I doubt it adds much power. It seems like its not so easy to get more power from these without dropping the engine and going with those fancy unicorn headers a few people have!

I wonder if i was to get a 2.75-3.0" CBE made locally how much that would improve power, i doubt much, it might be an expensive lesson in how not to spend money on these cars

Its such a shame for this car, such potential but so few sold and so little aftermarket support. im defintely in the wrong country to go fucking with a car like this to try squeeze a few extra ponies from it!

Im still going to keep it for another while yet!

A proper exhaust makes a huge difference- it’s not an experiment it has been proven out. The stock exhaust end to end completely chokes the 5.2 along with the stock tune.

Especially the s6 from an exhaust design standpoint

Do you mean a proper cat back system or a full header back system?

They definitely handicapped the s6 on purpose so the rs6 released a year later would definitely shine.

Its probably cheaper to sell the s6 and buy a stock rs6 rather than a full header back exhuast for the s6, well at current market values i would think.

This is only my opinion as a noob to Audi world.

Proper everything exhaust related. But yes start with a proper CBE with smooth bends 2.75ish piping with minimal or no neck downs proper placement of the xpipe and you will feel like it’s a different car.
