I guess if you’ve done every single other upgrade already, all deferred maintenance taken care of, and still have a bunch of money burning a hole in your pocket, then sure.
Relatively, it’s not very much… At least not when considering the prices of the other OEM carbon fiber parts. The 3 front grills and diffuser in the rear are also crazy high priced direct from Audi… ebay and google have made it all much much cheaper thankfully…
Agreed lol… although it’s more like a $30-35k+ car for me at this point lol… prayers that gas prices stay low and rare V10s such as ours raise in value sprinkles holy water
Always hard to make a product not many people understand appreciate over time, but you never know! Tbh, I enjoy the exclusivity of this community and AR/JHM’s progress on the project. It creates a certain kind of appreciation for our Audi S6’s that makes me feel wholesome lol.
I know what you mean. These cars are unique already but they also were overly tame and watered down. You really need a company that is interested in the advancement of the platform. And its great to see JHM at the top of the list for that.
I have mentioned several times to people that its a good idea to support any company that is still supporting the V10 S6. In some cases saving a few bucks on parts from a random parts warehouse is doing nothing to help grow the S6 market and development. Giving that money to companys like JHM is helping ensure the future of the platform stays alive.
Agreed, but keep hope alive lol. People ask me about the car all the time, but I think moreso now people are starting to notice how special they are. Probably helps that there’s a bunch of CF on the car now along with the exhaust, etc… I rarely come across other S6’s… Maybe 1-2 per month at the absolute most. Last one I saw was a week or so ago, an the one before that was about a month before. None of the ones I’ve seen have been modded anywhere near the same level aesthetically and I haven’t come across another JHM V10 car in person yet (unfortunately). The part that makes me feel most like I’m a part of this community is paying for stuff to get fixed lol… that and taking it to the track, since I guess I’m probably one of the only people in the world that actually take it to HPDEs…
I think Audi would’ve sold wayyyyy more if they understood the US market better when they released the car… They made a killing on the R8 because of side blades. If they just added carbon fiber door blades, B pillars, mirrors, and all of the other CF stuff I have on my car, from the factory (at maybe $5-10k higher sticker price), they probably would’ve sold many more copies… I’m happy they didn’t I guess because I see way more M5s/6s than I do S6s/8s, but still… And yeah, agreed on supporting the companies that support us… Jimmy and I just noticed AKMotorsports has handling upgrades for us, so that’s next on the list most likely. Gotta get the S4 up and running first I guess lol… We’ll see how that goes.
I think that, like Justin said, the popularity problem in the US wasn’t necessarily from the looks and styling, it was from the giant V10 that was putting out quarter-mile times comparable to a Honda Civic Type-R, with absolutely nothing available aftermarket to make it any faster. Thus, it was really only purchased by upper-middle-class families who wanted to buy an A6 that was a little nicer than their neighbor’s A6, so they got an S6. People who wanted a high-performance V10 sedan bought M5’s instead, since they were much faster out of the box.
In the end, the S6 was a car that split the difference between an average luxury sedan and a supercar luxury sedan, but cost too much and performed too little to gain much marketshare.
Thankfully, now that these cars have entered the secondary market, into the hands of people who actually appreciate them, the beast that was buried within has been unleashed! The price-to-performance ratio is 10x better now than before.
