Some photos I took last night in a parking garage

Comments/critique/suggestions for other angles, etc. welcome. (Obviously, I touched them up a bit in photoshop to bring out the colours, etc.)

dam man you make me want to go out and snap some pics of my ride. The thing that sucks is your car looks way better then mine. That looks great. NOW that I think about it Im not going to take any pictures and you have ruined the experence of my car for me cause your car looks so mean. That thing is wicked

graet pics

Thanks Chris, much appreciated

lol - that made me laugh.

Axel, the car looks tits. Nice shots, enjoy the ride.

Looking good… is the car sorted now finally? Tune all worked out and running good?

Any plans on hitting up the track with it?

I got a nice tune from JHM last week. Car is running well but I feel like it should have more power. I sent logs to them and I’m waiting for a reply from them.

Clutch pedal is still giving me some small issues. I replaced the release bearing which helped quite a bit (60% improvement) but still not completely fixed. Now I’m thinking of maybe replacing the master cylinder. I’m out of ideas to be honest. And everyone I’ve spoken to is stumped. Unfortunately, I don’t personally know Audi’s head engineer

The good thing is that it’s not stopping me from driving the car. The issue is pretty rare in street driving. However, it could be an issue for track driving (both circuit and drag).

there were a bunch of guys on quattroworld who had orchestrated a group buy for a metal slave or something to alleviate their clutch woes (similar issues, but on RS4s with stock and aftermarket clutches).

I have no idea on the compatibility of the parts, but might be something to look at. What did speedetc. do?

Yeah, I replaced the slave with a new OEM part and it didn’t change the issue in any way whatsoever (i.e. not even by a small margin) which leads me to believe it’s not involved with the problem. Speed replaced his slave with OEM as well and it didn’t fix anything either. His replacement of the release bearing fixed the issue whereas for me, it only improved it. He also changed his master which is the only thing I haven’t done yet.

outstanding pics!

Were they taken with an android phone? (IM KIDDING) ;D

I wish i had your skill! I have a great DSLR… i just dont know how to use it ???

Axel, when you had them replace the throw out bearing did you have them look at anything else? (I.e. pressure plate, flywheel bolts, etc?) Just curious. In the list of “possible culprits” flywheel bolts and pressure plate have been mentioned. I’m still living with mine as well b/c I just haven’t had time. Might be looking to pull the tranny this fall though.

Took the car to the shop to have the AC looked at yesterday, and turns out it’s not a simple “add freon” fix. . . so no happy about that issue either b/c the summers are pretty damn hot down here, and the second summer stint with no AC I’ve had.

On a more positive note, great pictures and I’m glad you were able to get them resized some to fit better. I really love that blue color. I miss having a blue car, maybe I should offer to trade with Dan lol.

Dan’s car is a monster. I’d say that would be a trade + CASH!

He has been enjoying the supercharged RS4 quite a bit. Not sure what they’re doing with it now though. He had it on for a while.

The most important part of the replacement part was the slave return line not the actual slave itself. The line is SS and won’t flex or get loose like the oe, one does over time. I just purchased the Metal slave since it was fairly inexpensive and I will be under there anyway so why not swap it out. I think the line will make a difference as well, not resolve the entire issue but will certainly eliminate some of the issue.

The line is already ss. Didn’t make a difference :frowning:

so you get a sticky clutch now and then? I have had it happen a couple of times but usually if I’ve maybe thrownit out on a downshift revmatch or something or even glazed it…never from going WOT through the gears (i.e. in 40 dragstrip passes, never had a problem).

It has happened when logging…going WOT through third to redline then popping the clutch in and coasting or hitting the brakes to slow down. When I would stop and say let go of the clutch it might get stiff or stick 3/4 of the way up (never all the way down, and never even half way). I wondered if it was related to braking though.

For me it happens everytime I start from a lowish rpm (the lower the worse) and go WOT to redline. No braking involved. It first happened when I was running against you. Went WOT in 3rd to redline and shifted up to 4th and the pedal didn’t come back. Now, I can reproduce it anytime. Luckily, I don’t go WOT from low rpms much on the street but on a circuit, that might be an issue on some turns (like shannonville’s hairpin turn prior to the fabi straight). Slow 2nd gear turn, low revs, wot after through the gear down the straight. Since the release bearing was changed, the pedal seems to come back 3/4s of the way rather than not coming back at all and it’s sticky. One thing to note, the clutch itself never stops working. It’s always grabbing perfectly fine as if it was totally unaware there was a pedal issue. Very strange.

not strange at all…as you don’t have a clutch problem, you have a clutch-supporting-hardware problem

Again though…how is speedetc. doing? he replaced those little parts (slave/line/master) and I believe it rectified his problem.

He replaced all the easy stuff first and after that didn’t help, replaced the release bearing which ended up fixing it. He says while he was there, he fiddled with other stuff as well such as resetting the SAC. I did all that and replacing the bearing did help but not completely. The only thing I haven’t done yet is the master.

Edit: and by very strange, I meant the issue itself, not the fact that the clutch itself is unaffected.

lol, yea so I’ve heard. I’m lookin forward to really hearing about it in action. And I think going to anything with a RS badge from my car would be a trade + cash though.

You described what I experienced 100% - same EXACT as what you experienced and why/when. I never had a pedal stuck to the floor or anything.

Axel - that sucks man, I really thought the line would help your symptoms a bit as others have described your same situation or at least similar and the line replacement with a SS version helped tremendously.

interesting. So you now don’t have these problems (NY07RS4)

I think every RS4 I’ve driven has had these ‘symptoms’. I’ve driven 6.
