Some pics from our drag day

Poor bora getting pulled over for driving a yellow car. I sometimes with my car was Imola, but a good friend of mine get’s pulled over weekly in his LS3 Yellow GTO because it’s yellow. Good cop for letting him go though. But no DRL’s? Must be a Canadian law.

2000s4, your RS4 just looks incredible in those rolling shots. You need to ditch those boat anchor wheels though or get some light ones for track duty. I bet you could shed 1/10 off your time with light weight 18’s

I looked at the stock exhaust on my RS this morning and it actually sticks out further than I thought. I’d have to see a side shot of your car showing the exhaust tips to know exactly how they compare. Either that or you could just compare with Saki’s RS and report back

My RS is Imola and I don’t have any issues with the cops where I live. IMO cop attention has a lot to do with how you drive and how loud your exhaust is.

lots (for us). It was nice when we arrived…but it got to about 15 cars in each line for each line steady by about 12 noon.

Here’s a few angles of my car to compare. I washed it when we got home from the strip so it’s finally clean.

a new gto? did he swap in the LS3?

gahhh so jealous

Typo. LS2. The thing is crazy…cam, headers, stall, slp catbac…we did some pulls before he got the cam. I got slaughtered.

I know…we’re spoiled in fall/spring. But in summer, the lines are a million cars deep. Figure about 40 seconds per run and you’re at a 60-90 minute wait in staging. Awful.

Last year when I went in November with my S4 there were maybe 15-30 cars at the track at any given time. I never once had to wait to run more than 2 minutes. So I could run a couple of times, then park the car, then jump right up to the staging lasers when I was ready to go again. Awesome. I would get 10-12 runs but only because I kept letting the car cool for 20-30 minutes at a time.

Here’s a question…would it be better to drive at say 40 mph in 6th gear rather than sitting with the hood open, as far as cooling things down? I ask because I often have my best time right when I get to the track, after a long drive to get there.

I don’t know for a fact but usually having fresh moving air and having the coolant system circulating and the oil circulating usually does a better job at cooling things off than sitting with the hood open and th eengine off. If you drive under 30MPH, crack the hood open but don’t release the latch. Not highly recomended but I’ve done this during auto cross events between class changes etc. It cooled off my BMW’s way faster than sitting still with the engine off.

So for the 1/4, maybe you can pop the hood right after you slowed down for the turn around and then continue driving slowly through whatever area is open/free until you are ready to stage again. Jsut a thought.

that second is in about a week as JHM gets down to supercharging Dan’s RS4. The expectations are pretty excellent. low-mid 12s and 120s and 500 whp. oh hi!

no heads or intake? Just wait till he gets those

moving at light load and low rpm is best, without the coolant/oil moving and air coming by it just sits and cooks. So if you can hotlap as much as possible as long as you arent heating up the clutch. Log iat throughout the runs, it should increase a bit but not drastically.

Oh yeah he has an Intake. Forgot about that. I remember him saying something about FAST being his next mod? It must stand fr something and I’m not in the loop so I don’t know.
Here is his car a few weeks ago…the red camaro is an LS1. Not sure what he has done to it besides headers and SLP catback

oh my bad, by intake I meant an intake manifold… which would be what he means by a FAST. Ask him if its stock heads

I fear what’s coming for the RS4. We’re seeing what 91gl is doing with his aggressive S4 program. I understand the laws of diminishing returns but how long til we see an 8E V8 in the low 11’s? Or will traction become an issue before that? Or broken axels/diffs? I don’t remember having seen what abuse the drivetrain can take.

Are your expectations not very excellent?

Lol sorry not 12s

was looking at the videos again… those of us with stock suspensions look at our cars bounce on the start. that cant be good for the 60’!!!

meh. I cut 1.82 and a bunch of 1.85-6-7 60 foot times in my S4 on stock suspension. I think Jaybquick’s B6 was on stock suspension too. I don’t think it’s your biggest concern.

Not sure about cabracco85…he’s the 60 foot master. If he’s on stock, you REALLY don’t have anything to worry about.

cabracco has coilovers iirc, but iirc he sets them up for the track (dampening adjustments)
