It’s sad to see what happens to a platform when scammers/self-tuners/China parts takeover and no one is smart enough to realize the equation for great consistent power isn’t all that complicated.
The A4 JHM stuff is great. It should be a huge market for them, but hopefully the A4 guys are smart enough to realize the JHM stuff is plenty worth it and not bitch about pricing or other stupid stuff.
Good to see the disparity between the B678 guys and the B5 guys finally showing up. I swear I’ve never seen a B5 run anything impressive. There was one with a full modlist, race gas, meth, Tial 605 turbos, blah blah blah…and it went 11.98@116…that’s the best I’ve ever seen. That was the fastest Tial 605 car for 3 years.
They’re really just not that good. 99% of them are 13 second cars or worse.
Also interesting to compare the B8 cars with B67 cars. Any results from the B67 guys? We know the one tuned RS4 went 12.8 and trapped 110. Sounds like he should have been closer to 12.5 with that MPH (my RS4 went 12.51 @ 110.5). The B8 S4 with tune/pulley went 12.6 @ 108…will be interesting to see the B8 guys who trash talk the RS4 turn a blind eye to this result.
Hey guys! I wanted to share some of the photos up from the track event. I know not everyone is on Facebook so I thought I would post. Personally i feel that the event was a success as far as turnout and customers enjoying the track and the company participation. It seemed that the overall vibe of the night was high and everyone seemed to have a great time. I know that we have been wanting to do something like this for a while and with getting rained out the week before we weren’t expecting as big of a turnout as we had. We were able to guesstimate based on photos and my personal recollection that we had about 34 cars present with the majority of them running down the track at least one time. Looking forward to the next track night we host! hope everyone has a great holiday.
Haha, complete opposite to that recent St. Thomas event. Not only is the time shown on the clock, but your time is also branded on your window for all to see (good or bad)
First off thanks for the insult. As someone who has been in the a4 community over 4 years I find your comment quite rude and honestly inconsiderate. Yes I self tune my car, and no, the recipe for power is not easy. Strapping on parts is the easy portion of a build, tuning it, that is the tough part. We don’t all have access to the calibrating “resources” that jhm does. And it comes down to several options including : handing your car over to someone you don’t really trust, shipping the car across the country, or deciding you will make the commitment to learn to tune and doing it yourself.
I got into cars because I like tinkering, not to be the fastest. If my goal was to be the fastest I would have just picked up some Japanese car that is light and can make tons of power easy.
I learned to build an engine, how to do entry level tuning, how to build a turbo kit, how an engine works on a scientific level, I may not be the fastest but I learned a ton. Meanwhile you learned how to input credit card numbers into the jhm website and maybe…maybe how to install them, but most people just have a shop do it.
So what do you do when jhm is gone? No more perfect calibrations, no more websites for you to input credit card numbers, no more pre made kits and parts. You’ll actually have to go and find out how to do it all yourself, or go to any of the 30,000 shops that you guys hate on.
You know there are some great people on this forum, cv, and justincredible just being two off the top of my mind, but then there are just a handful of people that make the most hateful most ignorant comments that make me even wonder why I come to a forum that hates everything I do.
Why rebuild your tranny? Just ship it to jhm
Why build your engine? Just ship it to jhm
Why do your own tuning? Just get jhm
This is not a critique of jhm, jake has always been great and I have no complaints with them, but I do have complaints with some of their more hard headed elitist customers who can’t appreciate anything outside of a jhm logo stamped on anything.
It makes me upset to think that everyone just prefers to throw money at a problem instead of figuring out what the problem is and learning how to do it themselves. And that’s what I Like to do and I can tell it’s not appreciated on this forum.
On behalf of all of us a4 asshats let me appologize to you euroswagr because not one of us “is smart enough to realize that the equation for great consistent power isn’t all that complicated.”
I personally respect everything u do mec. I’m also a tinkerer and totally get it. I think euro was just trying to say that jhm always comes out with the best gains versus any other companies. I don’t think that was meant as a personal attack to a4 guys.
I loved that u were able to remove your bumper and work on your car while still at the track lol. U got my wrenching respect for sure. Your build thread is good reading.
Mec first thank you for including me in your list of good people on this site. I would put you on my list.
I think euroswagr was trying to point out in a frustrated fashion the exact same things you are pointing out. Don’t buy from junk company’s that try to push china junk. You have seen the frankin siuation where people end up paying top dollar for china parts only to have them blow. The b5 has destroyed itself by the think they know better people. The no moto site has all kinds of guys who will tell you just how great they are and how big tuners are garbage only to not really be that great and non of them has turned out anything good. Not that there isn’t some good people but everything they have is from stolen stuff they don’t understand. Maestro is really tuning on your own and not taking from anyone. It’s how it’s supposed to be and you see that maestro tuned guys have pride and they did it themselves. You have been fighting to keep the trolls honest but the trolls are always the B5 guys and it’s the same b5 guys who have destroyed the B5. The b5 used to be the car to have and the top performance car. Now because of cheap junk parts scammers and the no moto self tuners the B5 results are now actually slower then they were 6 or 7 years ago. The b5 and its embarrassing results and continued failures are exactly what happens when the people and things your currently fighting against to keep out of the A4 market take over. They only take over when the members drop there standards. The standards have nothing to do with people like yourself or the do it your self guy. Your exactly what’s pushing the 2.0t market ahead. The 2.0t guys get it you get it and you and euroswagr are fighting for the same things.
You and euroswagr have the same message and outlook. If you knew just how much he has done on his car and his old b7 S4 (he took out the motor and took the heads down and off replacing all the timing system parts and much more) maestro isn’t hack self tuning it’s exploration and tuning building parts at home and maestro tuning them isn’t and I don’t think is falling into what euroswagr is talking about.
JHM, Great shit from you guys for putting this on… Killer photos…
Mec, I think you are misinterpreting Euro and don’t think you should react so harshly… I don’t rant or get all offended by your comments/opinions in regards to the B8 topics you’ve gone a little over board on and disparaged those of us who have actually tested the product/process… Just saying… Let’s not hijack this thread…
If you want to self tune and be slow or buy cheap China shit that fails and is poorly designed and be slow or do your own tranny and fuck it up, it’s your right to do so. Those are the people euroswagr is talking to. It makes no sense. But hey, have it it with your $40,000 car.
If you do all of those things and are faster and safe and do a great job, that will be great to see. Nobody is against that.
Mec you might be a bit younger and have more time and the personality to ‘figure it out’. I think euroswagr might have different priorities so your method doesn’t make a load of sense to him.
Personally I would never tune my own car. I’ve watched the audi tuning scene for 8 years and nobody self tunes successfully and is faster than the best professional tune sold by good tuners. Literally NOBODY.
I don’t get the ‘but I want to try this’ because in almost every single case it is one of two things:
Stolen tune with a couple of tweaks. Just punch yourself in the nuts instead
A shitty tune by someone who shouldn’t be tuning their own car
MEC This is funny, all of your assumptions…you show how much you don’t know me
The first part of my comment was directed specifically at the B5S4 results at the drag night…horrible
You just really don’t understand what JHM did for the platforms I’ve owned. If that is an elitist attitude in your mind, it’s whatever MEC. You are kinda becoming a whiny bitch here. I’m referencing the attitude in my own platform and I’m saying I hope the A4 guys are smarter than some of the B6/7 S4 RS4 members…and ESPECIALLY the B5S4 crowd!
Pretty elitist thinking you are the only one who turns wrenches around here…or can read and use a computer. I’ve persoanlly read multiple books on ECU calibration…want to know what I learned? I learned to leave that shit to a pro. Not because I lack confidence, but because the time invested, trial and error, and most importantly the potential to screw up my motor that is much more rare than a 2.0T. After all that my self-tune may still be light years behind a professional tune that Ive wasted hour/weeks/months revising…no regrets on a JHM tune credit card swipe.
…and it isn’t all that complicated, people just prefer to make it hard with mismatched hardware, cheap hardware, billy bobo’s tuning.
Buy quality or go with proven products for power. Too many people try to be different for no reason, they are usually the ones that disappear like a fart in the wind.
Excuse me if I missed it but jhm now has their supercharger kit for the S5? Those are spectacular results. Can we please have more on this?
The rest of the results are impressive as well. I’d also like to know about the 2.0t results being possibly a first-time twelve second run for the A4 guys.
My apologies Cory. I knew I’ve seen your results in your signature. I just didn’t remember all the details thus my question as to if this was indeed a first for all 2.0t guys or just b7? Is your car the only other b8 A4 in the 12 second zone?
No problem, just clearing things up. Someone did mention going 12.6@~111 on E85 with race file and meth etc etc…and also it was at PBR, with all the skepticism that goes with that However, he never posted a slip. I’m not aware of any other b8 2.0T in the 12’s, especially on pump.
I’ll mention with this with a disclaimer…I’m an owner of an APR RSC exhaust and I’m pretty disappointed with what appears to be inside. However, I’ve been using an APR tune with my K04 and so far have been happy with my results and drivability.
APR has a V3 K04 file coming for the B8 that they are preliminary saying improves my current numbers by almost ~40whp/~40wtrq. Hopefully I’ll be able to see the improvement at the strip in the spring and get deeper into the 12’s. I’m also very curious about trying my race file, it’s installed but I’ve never used it.
Until JHM starts a B8 program, APR is what I’ll be working with…there aren’t many K04 tune options.
