There are a lot of pics on az that you can find. H&R spacers are the most popular.
H&R hubcentric is the way to go.
Im running 10mm on all corners with stock wheels. looks great! No pics however.
I have ecs spacers on my car atm. They’re all more or less the same, just make sure you buy hubcentric
thanks gents!
Mtm ones are great on my rs4
On a b7 if you have stock wheels that are 8.0 et45, I’d suggest about 10-15mm front and 15 mm rear.
I had 18x8.5 et38 on my b7 s4. The extra 1/2" of width is 12mm, but only half of that relates to flushness (6mm). So they’re the equivalent of et32. The fronts were just about perfect, but the rears needed another 5mm or so.
Thus ‘perfect’ to me would be (on stock 18x8.0 et45) 13mm front and 18mm rear.
MTM are the RS4 elitist spacers
They are awesome…they fit tighter than a snail’s shell. Great because they snug up to the hub so well you just slap them on and it doesn’t move. Some spacers are sloppy.
You should watch that video of the h and r spacers ed lee made (bruised rs4 on quattrofail and raudidriver on audizoo). Showed the slop that some people get in the h and r joints. Not everyone though…just some (enough to make me buy mtm).
Funny…the mtms were in a group buy for a set of 4 for 420 dollars recently. WTF??? They’re only like 330 from Horchaus, the Canadian MTM distributor.
Damn! $330 for spacers?!?!? wahoo. Ill look into, I definitely love the stance that it gives the car. Am I gaining/losing any handling abilities by using spacers?
No at 10mm or 15 mm.
its basically just extending the material on the back mounting surface of the wheel.
Some say it improves the handling because of the wider footprint. Not sure if there is any truth to that
Found a pair of used ECS Tuning spacers. Fronts are 17.5mm and rears are 20mm. Price is around 100 for spacers and extended bolts. Are these quality from ECS?? Also, would this measurement be ok or are they a bit too big? Im running S8 rep wheels 235 40 18". Thanks again guys!
I’m selling my H&R spacers with ball seat bolts
2x 10mm w/bolts
2x 15mm w/bolts
$120 shipped for all 4 with bolts fair?
iirc I had 10/18mm on my S4… word of caution make sure the spacer seats into the wheel fully, I had one not sit right and it chewed up a hub ring on my ssr’s
Joe… ill take the 15’s!
lol that would have been fun swapping wheels
spacer + hub ring adapter + wheel + bolts and not studs
Although on Lexus cars with studs/nuts rather than bolts like on the Audi, I find it annoying.
Using the bolts ensures nice and square mounting while the studs can sneak a little off centre in the holes if you’re not careful, which means the nuts will stop threading on sooner than they should because they’re hitting the sidewall of the hole.
I would not say it “improves” but i notice i get more pull left to right on rural roads. Alighnment is good. I cal let go of the wheel on the highway and car peeps straigh, but on rural roads i guess with the 1 inch less i used to fit perfactly in the road grooves left by tractors and stuff but with the extra inch now im just a tad wider and i rock left to right in a lane.
something else i noticed, with the snow we got last week, i kick more snow up into my windshield since the rubber pokes out past my fender.
I need to buy a good metal hanger. It was a bitch keeping everything in place trying to get the first bolt in.
that’s why I love these MTM spacers…they literally lock right up to the hub. You don’t need to touch them. They’re like part of the rotor.
Joe, why are you parting with the spacers just out of curiosity? Did you get sick of the look? Would these be plug n play as far as fitment on my B7 S4? Is this an install that I could do in the comfort of my own garage or is it a bit more intense than that?
Saki- I would love to buy the MTM spacers but it may be worth it to keep thew extra $200 and repurchase the CF rear spoiler that flew of my car lost week. %$#&&^!!
Joe, if you’ll take $100 shipped for em and they’re in good shape and will fit my car, ill paypal you today and provide a shipping address.
Thanks!
I’ll take the 10s
