Still shopping...

Congrats! You’ll love it. Give it some good love before you clock too many more miles - when these cars are in good shape, they’re very reliable. But if they’ve been neglected, problems can start to multiply exponentially until you get ahead of them.

You can call or email APR with your VIN number and they can tell you if it has their tune. It obviously doesn’t have the JHM tune since it’s only been out for a few months and nobody would want to sell their S6 after getting that done ;D Maybe you’ll luck out and discover some other mods, but I wouldn’t get your hopes up too much, since hardly anything was available until earlier this year. I got a lucky surprise when mine arrived, that it had the Miltek exhaust. I wouldn’t pay money for that upgrade, but since it was free, can’t complain.

Killer deal on the price, you really can’t go wrong… even if you need to put $10k in repairs into it (which would be an absolute shock cinsidering the work already done recently), you’d still be coming out ahead.

What is missing if you don’t have the tech package? Genuine question - I have no idea what the tech package is. I honestly thought all US C6 S6’s were configured exactly the same as each other, except the occasional warm weather package (solar sunroof) or adaptive cruise control.

congrats! this is offically now a TTIWWP thread! ;D

Welcome to the V10 owners club

Welcome to the group Compugeek5150. I hope that this car exceeds your expectations. issues will come so fond a good trust worthy mechanic that’s familiar with these German cars.

Delivery window set; 4-6pm Sunday. Boo. Was hoping for today.

When I ordered mine, the dealership dragged their feet for almost 3 months before they finally loaded it onto a truck. It wasn’t until I threatened to sue them that they finally decided to send it to me. So don’t feel too bad.

holycrap! It was loaded Tuesday - but they wouldn’t tell me the route schedule…was frustrating! I couldn’t imagine 3months. I’d be bald.

It should not be more than 5 days. So sunday sounds about right. It depends on how many other cars are on the trailer

it’s a full transport. I was nervous they’d just show up and try to deliver; there’s NO way to get a full size trailer into my neighborhood. LOL. I’m glad they called Friday though - dropoff location at a nearby middle school. Plenty of room for the rig to turn around. :counting hours:

ME too its always exciting to see the good guys getting there cars and the first impressions. Give us an update. Very excited for you to get the car.

If I don’t have the sticker, how do I match that info? VIN decoder?

TMinus 3hours… aaaaahhhhhhhh

one hour…aaaahhhh!!

So…finally had a chance to give 'er the ole once over twice at lunch…

She’s definitely untuned and stock exhaust. Sooooooo quiet! Smartkey wouldn’t unlock/start without putting it in the keyhole - no smartkey found message. Ruh Roh! Crisis averted. Had a 1632 battery instead of a 2032. Handled. (this proxkey thing is going to get me into trouble, I can tell - way convenient). I’ll need to get a second key programmed asap!!

The bad; scarfed passenger fender from shipping. All sorts of nasty scrapes all the way to shiny metal. Claim filed. Of the 4 tires, only two match brands. 3 are way wrong size (235/35), on 265/35, no spare, TPMS light on. Yay. V10 badge missing - debating on just pulling the other one off for moar stealth.
Headlights badly glazed, but it scrapes up with a fingernail so it’s probably just oxidized buildup of armorall. Everything appears to work. A buncha switch edges are worn and will probably drive me crazy. The center console CF panels are cracked, various cosmetic warts that come with a 100k mile car. Seats and carpets are amazingly well preserved. Serious quality!

Also get an airbag light after a mile or so of driving. I need to get something to read them VAG codes - I don’t think I need to take the plunge on RossTech just yet - what’s everyone’s opinion on OBDEleven and Carista?

Im with you on the switches and the little buttons with visible ware. I cant stand that.

Good for you. As always post pics everyone loves pics.

As for the scan tool. Vag com has a huge lock on the market with a inside relationship with someone at VW AG as its been explained. So its going to be hard to find or beat all the abilitys of the Vag com tool.

The other tools are ok for reading and checking clearing codes etc but they dont tend to give you in depth information like vag com will. So depending on what your looking for the extra money for vag com might be worth it.

Pics coming… I gotta figure out how to make my phone not take 8mb pics  Dam Lumia’s.

Suck it up and buy VAG-COM, best thing you’ll ever do with any Audi let alone an S6! Likewise, hit the list of recommended minimum maintenance items, chump change to eliminate much frustration.
Keep a spare CR2032 in the house as well as your glovebox. They don’t last long - maybe six months.

Instead of buying new tires, search your local Craigslist and find a set of C7 20" wheel with tires. Likely you’ll find a set of takeoffs for $1k - wheel and tire upgrade for the price of a set of tires.

Check out the Audiworld classifieds for a vendor selling the upgraded silver start button - takes all of 1 minute to fit. The rest of the switchgear shouldn’t be too bad, otherwise there’s fleabay. Equally, good for replacement badges.

3M has a great kit to refurbish headlights - best to remove them to do it - might as well while you’re replacing the air filters with K&N.

Carbon trim is silly $$$ to replace and rare used - maybe someone’s got a DIY fix?

And don’t forget to enjoy - they’re just awesome.

^^ great tips, thanks

Pulled the codes… Bad airbag sensor drivers side, coolant pump error A/C system, no connection to either the AMI or the CD changer/TV tuner(?? wut), TPMS unable to connect.

It’s been sitting in the driveway since Sunday night and there’s a quarter size oil puddle. Haven’t had time to register it or really look at it honestly - seems to drive ok. No CEL, so that’s good…

Probably reg it tomorrow

To do list for the weekend;
Break out the headlight polishing kit
buy new tires and probably TPMS
maybe pull out the resonators and install straightpipe and x pipe.
Wash it!!

Had similar situation with oil leak from my car after I bought it. Ended up being an engine out service to replace almost all (if not all) of the gaskets. I have the service sheet, but you get the gist… Maybe not a big deal. But I don’t really know since I’m a bit new to this and have recently had a bunch of gaskets replaced.

Quarter size isnt bad but if the belly pan is on it could be worse. The biggest issue is the oil cooler that is located just on the passenger side of the block. If you get these cars a good thrashing and they dont have a good PCV unit and top mount oil seperator it looks like it tends to overwhelm the oil cooler seals.

The best case is that its the valve cover gaskets as that is a normal maintantence thing. If the oil spot is almost right in front and center then that can be the oil filter o rings and thats not too bad to change and its something your probably going to be looking at soon anyway if you pull the intake manifold to check to see if the flap is broken and if the car needs a carbon clean.
