Tall B6/7 guys: Do you share my dilemma?

I have been getting annoyed by the key lately. It basically sticks out right where my right knee goes.

I’m 6’5" so I imagine other tall guys have a similar problem.

Just wondering what anyone has done to solve this? I am going to try a piece of the rough side of velcro attached to the steering column, and the soft fuzzy side on the key, then I will start the car, hold the key fold button in and bend it up to hold on the velcro. Think it’ll work?

There was a guy on AZ that put a piece of velcro on the key and a piece on the steering column so he could flip it up out of the way. You could just use your valet key if it’s really a big obstruction but that’s a hassle to carry around your 1980’s key along with the fob

6’2" I positioned my seat to where my knee fell just below…when I took the car to the track I noticed to have an agressive posture I had to move my seat to where the key did hit my knee…I just keep my service key in the car incase I loose my key…I know I would have to break the window to get it…any way I use the service key small and no issies

can’t find the video but I remember seeing one of how CV bypassed the key so a pushbutton start would work. You just need the immobilizer chip in the key near the right spot and it was able to start.

Yep, the European cars solved this problem with the start button. I have the same problem and it is annoying. I move the seat back, which makes it less comfortable but shigata ga nai.

As in remove the immobilizer chip from the key and locate it in some position by the ignition switch and then add a pushbutton start?

Sorry for being dense. I just thought that the pushbutton start still had to have the key in the ignition, but I probably have that wrong.

it does, CV did something so it didnt have to be iirc. It was years ago that I saw the video so I can’t recall details

They didn’t though… Euro rs4 needed to put the key in, turn it to on, then push a button.

So now your knee is still hitting the key, AND you have no cup holder.

yep same issue here. i’d like to move it but there isn’t really anywhere better

Maybe this could be an option…
